Hi Doug, It sounds like you are doing well. You and Michele have made me feel so much better about my Rthr next Tuesday. Stay well Kate

Day 3: wow! Today I've gone from feeling great on days 1/2 to feeling awful. My leg is red and hot. After not needing anything more than Tramadol and Meloxicam, I've started Percocet ever six hours. I did get a two hour nap in which has helped. Also a little emotional today. The surgeon did tell me the procedure was an hour longer than expected and that he had to take down lots of scar tissue. Should I be feeling worse today? Thanks,
Michele

Sorry you are hurting so bad, from what I have read healing is an up and down process. Please keep an eye on your leg for infection due to it being red and hot. Someone from the board should answer soon I am going in on Tuesday for my hip. Wish I could be more help. Good thoughts coming your way. Kate

@Viene I agree with Kimmer.. healing is up and down.
I am 4 weeks 5 days and have found with increased activity my days very often. I would check my temperature if my leg stayed warm, just to make sure no infection.
Warm regards

Hi Michele, Kate and everyone. Made it home and got a nap, although my phone was blowing up and the kitties were really happy to see us.
Let's see I am 54-hours post surgery and have some swelling, well a lot of swelling but that is normal. No redness just some bruising which is also normal.
No redness or excessive heat.
Doc has me on Norco 10/325 as needed and 2 aspirin daily. He said no more NSAIDs until I see him the 13th.
I just went with my wife to the store just so I could go walk. Took my cane, I just don't need the walker.
Keep an eye on the redness and heat. I have not experienced that before so I am unsure what to think.
Hopefully an 8-10 hr sleep is not to far away.
It is all good to be home!!
Doug

Good morning! I got a 3+ hour nap between 4-7 this morning! What a difference sleeping makes! I'm going to try just the Meloxicam and Tramadol today. I hate the way the Percocet makes me feel. I'm icing more which helps so much. I was also reminded by a friend that I shouldn't be feeling totally normal 3 days after major surgery. I am, however, having periods of two or so hours where I feel great. So maybe the day 3 is the worst concept is spot on.
Have a great day Bonesmarties!
Michele

Great attitude! This whole experience for me has been one of continual
growth and understanding. I agree that getting sleep does turn pessmism into optimism Happy recovery

Michele, you sound / type better, that is great. I slept 11-hrs. I just had a Gatorade and pain pill, time for coffee and food.

Hi @
I think your friend was spot on! It's very early days and you are doing fine. You are going everything you should and have the right attitude too

Keep going and best wishes
Peter

Up, shower and dressed. Had my PT eval-she seemed pleased. Everything progressing normally. She walked in, saw me, and asked: Did you even have surgery? Went to breakfast w my mom. Now back home to rest. No luck on the potty front-hopefully soon!

It all sounds great, Cisne. @Kimmer you will do fantastic as well. We will be thinking of you tomorrow and look forward to hearing from you when you can after surgery. Cisne is right. There is plenty of support here for you at every step.
