To get to the home health PT, you have to be seen by a nurse to enter you into the system and to discharge you from the system when you're done. The home health company gets a lot of money for this -- it was the only thing that seemed to be reimbursed nearly 100% of what they submitted; even more than my outpatient PT and definitely more than my hospital or doctor costs.
That nurse was unprofessional at best. Maybe he wanted to go fishing today, but he had a professional duty to attend to first, and he owed it to you to be professional about it. A call to the agency is DEFINITELY in order. They need to know. Even if your vitals had been normal all night (which they were not), you deserved a proper nursing visit to document your status.
My intake nurse came to see me on a Sunday afternoon, and she ran back to the office to get me some appropriate sized bandages, for which I was thankful. (My doctor's bandage care verbal instructions and written instructions contradicted, and I, unwisely perhaps, changed my bandage after I got home. My husband could not find a bandage large enough to cover the incision in the local drug store, so this was most appreciated.)
