When are you having your pacemaker implanted? My was put in the the same reason you are having yours. You will probably feel a lo better after it's in and working. Mu hear rate used to drop into the 30's and I would be very tired and dizzy. I've had mine since 1999, have had 3 ablations for atrial fibrillation and now have the latest and greatest which treats the a-fib. /the procedure itself is not too bad. You just have to lie almost flat for 12 hours, and then get used to a metal thing in your chest. Nothing like a TKR. I will be following your thread to see how you're doing with it.Dorothy

Hi Sue, sorry your knee dosent seem to like your recent activity. They are very moody and dont like a lot of change. Hope the swelling goes down soon. Keep doing what you are doing. Cant do much else really can you. Our trip to the Lakes was cancelled and we ended ip going to North Wales again. Enjoyed the day out and not too far to travel home again. Perfect. Am icing tonight just to calm the knee down again. Hope the weather holds out for your son in Dorset. Lovely down there. Take care. pat x x

Seriously considering whether the week away in just over a month will have to be cancelled.
Don't be despondent. You are only 8 weeks out now and provided you stick with the pain meds as you should, I think you'll see a great improvement within the next 4 weeks. This is the worst time when everyone thinks the worst and 'is this what it's going to be like permanently' seems to be the cry. But it's not. Have patience and look forward to better things. They will come.

I was wondering how you were Pat, it was and is very rainy here. My knee settled well, thanks. I recalled we'd walked down a small slope of lawn.....I've only done flat walking before and I think she (the knee) shouted back, "What's this all about?"
Best,
Sue.

Dorothy, I've started reading your thread, I'm sorry you have had such a problematic time, a really awful time  I'm having blood tests on 16th Aug for thyroid etc, I take Vit D; I'm on the waiting list now for my consultant at Wythenshawe, the main heart hospital in the NW. My rate drops to 30BPM and I have pauses. They're not sure a pacemaker will help, but we decided it will be worth trying; I get so very tired and dizzy.
Sue

Thanks Josephine. I'm taking things gently and enjoying reading some of the threads here. I'm looking forward to better mobility and getting out and about eventually, pain free or reduced in one knee at least.

Hi Sue. Im not sure Dorothy will read your post because you didnt tag her. Do you know how to tag people.

Ooops thanks, is this right?

Thats it. Well done. Dorothy will now get an alert that someone has tagged her and read your post.otherewise posts can get missed really easily with such a busy forum.

10 weeks ago today was Day 1 post op.

Can I chance a positive update  without being too optimistic.....I never was the optimist!

I medicate for ache rather than excruciating pain now. 7in scar neat and only a little swelling. Clunking a bit to remind me I have my first bionic component. Walking without sticks indoors but with my trusty NHS carved wooden aids that I love outside, mostly as protection from the madding crowds, not that I've been anywhere more crowded than the Spar round the corner, the supermarket, son's graduation or the coffee shop in town as yet. The prosthesis feels part of the leg, not alien and today the tight band feeling has reduced and flexibility increased.

I've been quiet because at last I can sleep a bit more and I've been heeding the advice of my physio....body repairs whilst asleep. So sleeping I've been doing, as well as elevating and icing....thank you BoneSmart team.

I count my blessings to have had a good and caring surgeon and the support at home from a loving family and of course the forum here.

Next physio after a month's break is next week, see consultant in Sept for 3 month check up. Hoping I do not get discharged by either.

Sue:cheers:

Hi Sue. So pleased to hear update. Things seem to be right on track. I dont understand why you said you didnt want to be discharged from your surgeon tho. Surely thats a good sign if youre discharged it means that everything is good. Physio I know is a different thing and younwill need that for a while. Im sure your knee will begin to feel even stronger once you start getting about a little bit more. The clunking sound i had has now gone. Walking is becoming a pleasure rather than a pain. Have a brilliant weekend. Take Care.

Hi Pat,

I think I'd like to know a year down the line how the joint is. I think I had a different prosthesis from you, although same hospital.

Is it your physio next week?

Sue.

Hi Sue. I got an appointment at twelve months but only to discuss when to do my right knee. O Joy cant wait for that conversation. Yes my physio is on Tuesday. I havent been on the bike a lot this week because I have been quite busy every day and doing a lot of walking. My knee complains if I do both. Went to the cinema tonight with two of my daughters and it was the first time I have felt comfortable there for the whole of the film in a long time. Every week I notice something else that got better. Got to be good a.

Yes, it has to be a good thing. We had tickets to a visit in London today, booked over a year ago, but I've had to send my husband on his own, I couldn't face public transport.
I have to laugh, after yesterday's post had such a bad night with those strange zingy nerve reconnecting shocks and restless leg. Duvet day for me resting, icing and elevating instead of seeing Buckingham Palace.

Sue

pat, hoping the physio goes well, let me know, mine is Thursday. We've been thinking about the cinema, Dh went in and picked up a leaflet about the weekly pensioners showing.....you get a cup of tea and biscuits :happydance: There are some good films on and plenty of people struggling with mobility.
I do one different thing in a day, that's all, be it filling in a form or something really simple. The happy camper comes home today with a boot full of washing the men will have to tackle. :rotfl:
Sue.

Dabber - Good report, and you're going to feel even better when you get your pacemaker.

Dorothy

Oh gosh Sue, I hope and pray your test come back with a quick and least painful solution. :beg:

I know you're looking forward to your trip to France, but I may have a solution... I'll go for you! :loll:Or, we could buddy up and lean on one another for support. :console2:

Seriously, September is a few weeks from now, so perhaps you'll be well enough to travel. Sounds like you could use, and deserve a little getaway. :egypdance:

Keep us posted....

Type to you later,

RaQia

Hi RaQia, I fancied doing the 3 legged me RTKR you LPTKR, oh no, no use, yours is the same leg, anyway I was going to say until I saw a video of little person's three-legged race where they both tried to hop and ended up immediately in a heap only to get up again and repeat the process!
I think France may have to wait for another year, all these obstacles weren't in the way when it was planned. Never mind, I'd only bore the socks off everyone about TKR!
Sue :heehee:

Oh my word....10 weeks out from TKR and having a Pacemaker tomorrow. There's been a cancellation.
Deep breaths,
Sue.

That's GOOD! If you need a pacemaker, much better sooner than later.
