What a nice update! Thank you for stopping by to share.
Congratulations on your marriage and being able to walk down the aisle pain free.
I wish you many years of happiness with your new hips and your new spouse!
@McDeeva :loveshwr:

@McDeeva I have spent a happy couple of hours reading your and @Dinsmaums old threads, it all helps to understand all these horried things going on in our bodies. I am in the first stage with spacer and IV for the 3rd time in 4 years and well, im sure dont need to tell you how i feel. It makes me so happy to hear you so well and happy, I wish you all the healthy times possible. Hugsxx

Hello @McDeeva ,

I'm glad to read that things are going well for you.

Congratulations on your marriage, too.

I have merged your latest update with your original thread. It makes a nice ending to your story of a difficult recovery.

Best wishes.

Wonderful post...and inspirational.
Thank you!

Hi everyone! I haven’t been on here in so long, but recently I talked to a young lady who was pondering having hip surgery and I directed her here As this forum was such a blessing to me while i was going through my journey. Everything is ok with me, the only thing is I am still going to PT for a tune up as I like to call it. My right leg is still weak and apparently I may have a slight (1 inch) limb discrepancy. This was fixed with a heel lift but I still have work to do. I have to do my stretches an walk etc etc, but i think this pandemic coupled with everything else has taken a toll mentally. I am jumping back on the bandwagon and doing my best you know? And one of those things is coming on this board to encourage and support others like you all did for me.

Have a great day hippies!

Deeve

Thank you for your update, @McDeeva .

It's good to hear you're still dong well. :yes!: :friends:

I've merged your update with your old thread, to give a continuous story about your hip.

Best wishes.

Hi @McDeeva
Yeah, this virus has most of trying to stay out of a funk.
Thanks for the seal of approval...I feel Bonesmart was an essential recovery tool for me too.
Keep the faith

Hi @Carolinagirl54
Welcome to the forum.
This thread of McDeeva began long ago and she has only recently popped in for an update.
Oh yes, lifting my leg was like, nope!
Have you recently had hip or knee surgery?
Please start a thread and give the dates of your surgery, if you will so we can properly welcome you and other members can respond to you and do let us know if you need some help.

Hi everyone! Man oh man I'm back. I am currently getting some testing done to see if I have another infection or if my cup is loosening. My bloodwork came back and my ESR is 36 and my CRP is 0.8. When I was first diagnosed with an infection in 2016 my ESR was 36 and my CRP was 2.9.

I have a bone scan scheduled next week as well. I hope I don't have another infection. Are there other folks that had to get another stage 2 revision for infection? Is it the same process? Did you have success?

In the meantime I had a baby! My daughter will be 1 next month and she is the love of my life. The thought of having to go through all of this again with a child is so daunting. I really thought I was over this part of my life and had moved on but honestly I have had pain and limping for years now so. Who knows.

I wonder if any of the OG's I used to talk to still log on? Karri etc. Ya'll have no idea how much you all helped me through the years. I have thought of you all often. Hope all of you are doing well.

I am really trying to NOT get depressed and down and out. It's very hard though. I don't have any diagnosis as of yet just hoping for the best.

Also any reccomendations for great revision hip docs in Michigan?

Love and Light to you all!

McDeeva

Congrats on the baby!
A friend of mind that had two replacements developed an infection several years after her surgery. She had picture perfect recovery with both hips so the infection took her by surprise.
No revision but meds & therapy after.
I'm not 100% sure how severe infection was but that's what happened to her.
I just remember her being confused & upset after so many years had passed. She actually sits on board of trustees at hospital where her surgeries were performed. So I would figure she was getting best of care.
All my best, hope it's not an infection & if so that it can be resolved w/o surgery.

Thank you! So she had an infection and didn't have to get surgery or a revision. She was just treated with antibiotics? I didn't even know that was possible! Did she recover ok and how is she doing now?

Yes, she was treated with antibiotics & went back to some therapy & is fine.
Not sure how bad the infection was but she did not need surgery.
I can ask her & get back to you.

Oh @McDeeva  Congrats on your little girl!!!

I'm sorry your in suspense again. Please do update us when you have scan results. We'll be waiting.

Well I'm back with update from my friend who had original surgery 2016. She's actually still dealing with some sort of a slow growing bacterial infection. Had no clue cause I haven't asked in awhile just figured all was ok.
She's had 5 aspirations & still not able to culture it. Aspirations were taken from the joint, (synovial) fluid collects into a bump at top of leg. She said it doesn't hurt but aches in evening.
She's seeing a specialist at Brigham that is trained in surgical complications & steering clear of surgery if at all possible.
And sorry for earlier post that said the antibiotics helped, she said they didn't. I just never thought to ask about the infection last few times & not someone I talk to frequently, I only remembered her original issue back when the infection came up.
Hope this helps & if I hear anything else after her visit to Brigham I'll let you know.

@McDeeva ..... I apologize for not responding to you sooner on your request for revision surgeons. Do you still need some recommendations? How are you doing?

I checked in with my friend yesterday after her initial Brigham visit.
Her first visit was testing, on 11th she's having biopsy & 18th an aspiration.
Replacement of the hip has been discussed but these are the avenues they are trying first.
She wants to do everything in her power not to need a replacement.
Like I mentioned her original replacement was 2016.

Hi Jamie I'm hanging in there so glad to hear from you. I had all my appointments a nuclear bone scan and aspiration and no infection thank goodness! Bone scan seemed ok to. I'm no back to PT. So prayerfully I can round the curve. It's just been so long and hard to believe riser I still need put 8 years later. But I did have extensive surgery on my right side and i was not doing my exercises. I'm determined this time!
