Can anyone relate - escalating pain pre-op?

ut it can go either way. First hip never did anything but get exponentially worse in pain. This one took a few days off as soon as I got the date, then went back to normal. But I'm still 6 weeks till surgery so we have plenty of time!
Meanwhile, I'm on vacation, walked 4 miles yesterday and the darn thing is telling me I could easily wait till

I have it impossible to sleep through the night for the last few weeks because of increasing pain in my left hip. Also, while I have been determined not to become one of the shoppers using the motorized carts at the grocery, I am no longer capable of making it through the entire store without at least stopping. It really does seem as if the pain got much worse as soon as I knew surgery was in my future. Some of it may be in my head, but a lot of it is in that darned left hip! After two delays (the first for bronchial pneumonia and the second for not getting over it fast enough), I'm finally getting a new one Thursday July 21st and can't wait!

@starless Oh wow! That is a big fear of mine. To be sick right before surgery and it have to be postponed. Glad to hear you are better and rescheduled. Make sure to post a recovery thread so we can cheer you on. :)

I had to give up on sleeping in the bed about 3 months from surgery. Could only get comfortable in my recliner. The not being able to get good sleep was even more of an excellerent to my pain. The great news is that nasty bone on bone OA pain was gone when I woke after surgery. The pain of post-surgery was nothing compared to the pre-op pain.

Good luck on Thursday @starless !

I am hobbling right along with you sister! I was scheduled for RTHR in mid Sept. Since the March 2016 diagnosis, I progressed from achey and taking a couple of anti-inflammatories to ... Developing a noticeable limp in April and needing a special chair to sit in to avoid pain to... Begging my dr for something better for pain in May to... Asking for better pain meds and begging to swap surgery dates to get the surgery sooner, buying a cane to help get around, taking more naps, used more heat and ice packs in July. In my desperation i said i was ready to shop around for another surgeon. Two hours later the office offered Aug 11... I have never been so grateful. Pain has not been relieved with the new date. Night pain is the worst... I try to sleep on my back with pillows keeping my legs in place. Hang in there... Try new ways to help reduce the pain.
