BossK's recovery thread

I can't remember if Celle or sistersinhim had the same surgery date as I did?

You know to be very careful with exercises at this point in recovery. I'm glad you're in less pain today.

Not me! I'm so glad you are feeling better today! Good deal on keeping on those pain schedules! It certainly makes a difference when the meds are kept in the system.

I also felt rushed out of the surgery center. But I've done ok since being home, and I didn't like how they were "elevating" my leg. I hope you can get your pain back offline. My block is still numbing the lower leg, but my thigh hurts so badly.

What a difference between these knees! My L took 5 weeks to get any type of quad response, and my R is already able to do straight leg lifts. My PT was amazed. I only have 8 visits left to PT thought,

Getting better each day. I really felt that "hand grenade" exploded in the knee when that block wore off, but I've got it under control now. I'm being very careful with my exercises.

Have you had any problems getting your 'old' knee to take over now that the second one has been replaced? Especially up with the good leg, and trying to use that leg to stand with? I've found that I have had some difficulties with that.

Is the itching gone yet? I hope so. That really is very annoying.

No more itching, thank heaven! My 'more seasoned' left knee is supporting my new right knee pretty well. I had a tendency to let my left leg go slack while standing before this surgery, so I definitely can't do that now. I'm doing my therapy exercises on both sides just to be safe.

Swelling seems to be up a bit today. If I recall, that's part of the process? Icing and elevating like crazy.

The first few weeks are an up and down of swelling. I just tried to sleep the days away and not worry too much about it. I never even wanted to look at the knee until the staples came out. Guess I stuck my head in the sand.

The first weeks are always the toughest but it's easier to say that to someone else than to say it to ourselves! I'm glad your itching finally has stopped. Are you having any 'bathroom' difficulties? That's where I'm 'stuck' :heehee: tight now.. it's better to prevent than let it get ahead of you.

You are probably doing too many exercises and you infant is rebelling. Cut back just a bit and your swelling should come down.

Hopefully the swelling will go down and you'll be more comfortable tomorrow.

I am having such a different experience this time it's unreal. I keep measuring with my hands the circumference of it and it seems really swollen in the back this time.
Also wondering if the Ted Hose have latex in the rubber strip at the top? I didn't think I had a latex allergy, but I'm getting strange itchy welts right there.

Is there a tab with what it's made of on the hose? Have you tried icing the back of your knee where it's swollen?

I'm icing the back of the knee more often as this seems to be where the trouble is. It feels like all of my calf muscles have been pulled. I was naturally concerned there was a clot, but I don't have any of the accompanying symptoms.
As for the stockings, I can't find a tab or anything that says what they're made of.

I wrap my knee with the polar cube wrap and then rotate my extra ice pack from outer thigh, back of knee and outer calf. Each area gets fussy off and on through the day.

Miralax! Haha! That stuff gives me horrendous cramps.
And yes, having someone else remind you is worth it. That's why I love this forum!
