BossK's recovery thread

I wrap my knee with the polar cube wrap and then rotate my extra ice pack from outer thigh, back of knee and outer calf. Each area gets fussy off and on through the day.

I have my ice "sheet" on the lower leg right now and it feels better, but still achy all down the small bone. Tibia? Fibula? It's too early here in Denver for me to recall my anatomy. :)

Bossk, try taking off the compression hose for a while to see if the pain diminishes a bit.

Good idea. Today is shower day, so I can at least have them off for an hour.

I get It! I wasn't allowed to shower for a month!

Was that because you had them at the same time?
I see now you were right about the Ted hose- one pair is a little tighter than the other. I'll have to dig up my old ones.

I remember how good that shower felt! Oh, and that hot water on my knee was heaven! It's the little things!

It was after my infection surgery. When the staples were removed the seeping continued. It was a month between surgery and when the seeping finally stopped. Even when I was allowed to shower I had a PICC line that had to be covered with Cling Wrap to keep the dressing dry and clean. I showered Nov. 27 and didn't have another shower until Dec. 27. Until then it was washing my hair in the sink and sponge baths. When that shower finally happened I was praising God!

I'll bet! Wow, that is a long time to have to wait! I don't think I knew you had an infection. That is scary stuff, and I am glad you are well now!

Ugh. The pain in the exact center of the back of the knee is miserable today. Got a call in to the nurse...

Please let us know what you find out.

So I went to my PT with my complaint and he measured and prodded, and said I met half the criteria for a clot, but he just wasn't sure. The other PT agreed and said for peace of mind, I needed to get scanned for one. We went to the ER, who got me in right away, and the ultrasound came back negative, thank heaven! The doc said the high amount of bruising I have was probably what was causing the pain, pinching blood flow and nerves, and just to continue rest, ice, and elevation. I'm glad I didn't spend the night fretting about this! Thank you all for the support!

Interestingly, my doctor's office has yet to call back!

I'm glad it's not a clot. This first month is full of so many different pains, but it's always good to get it checked out. I do love that the ER said ice/elevate/rest!

Thank God your blood clot test came back negative! What's the deal with your doctor??

I know the doc it out of the country on a mission trip, but that doesn't excuse the on-call Doctor. The swelling today is terrible, but I'm guessing it was from the activity yesterday afternoon. But it hasn't gone down at all over night.

Did you ice and elevate all night? Continue to do so all day. And make sure your toes are above you nose. I hope that will bring down the swelling. I remember how uncomfortable that was and hope yours comes down fast.
