When we have pain we need to take our medicine to heal....simple as that. I don't think anyone likes taking pills and especially strong pain meds, but we need them to heal and recover. As I am learning our bodies are pretty remarkable machines and it will let you know when it does not need the pills.

I just I don't know when my groin pain it's going to get better its feels like an open wound. All and all I'm just not healing as fast as I would like
Ooh, you are impatient! And only 10 days out - plus you had a revision at that! Our bodies just don't heal that fast, my dear. Look at this

I do find if I am really up and down a lot during the day it sure increases my pain at night.
And therein lies the truth! Did you ever read all the articles Jamie left for you? You really should - especially the one on activity progression. These articles are important so even if you have read them, please go back and read them again. They are in post #9

Oh Bella dear-- I completely am on board with our friend Legin! I think everyone wants to discount how much trauma has been done to their poor little hip bones and muscles and ligaments tendons and on and on-- not to mention how much the rest of your body goes through having to compensate for your less than normal gait. And the lack of good rejuvenating sleep. Need I go on? I am still taking pain meds into week 11. Granted I have other chronic issues but I still have pain and swelling. Finally have been able to walk this week with a somewhat normal gait and little pain. It's a long road. Read that chart againI have read it about a hundred times!
You are still in the resting stage and I still think a revision is worse pain than the first at least for me it was. Rest rest rest and love that hip! It will get better!
Happier days to come!
Birdie

Hi @bella531
I feel for you with a revision that logically will be more complex than the original. I am four weeks post op tomorrow. It has been a long haul. How many times did I hear "You'll be fine" "You'll be fine" when I was not fine. Despite finding Bonesmart a few days before surgery, I still felt, like you, that I would be up and running within a couple of weeks. Now at week 4 I am seeing real movement, went up the stairs "normally" this morning, went out by myself just walking about 250 metres - these are such small things but such leaps forward. You will get there but you have to be so slow and clam in the process. I just did not account for that.

I had a sort of inner thigh pain for the first few days. It was like a burning sensation (like something running down my leg). It did merge with everything else and settle after a few days.

The laying on the settee, as you are doing, was what I needed for hours on end but I felt that I would stay like this for the rest of my life! Only in week 3 did this get better for me. I still sleep for a couple of hours in the afternoon on some days. I like the idea of healing happening while you are sleeping or laying around as makes it seem more constructive.
I am glad you have got your mother there being able to be objective. It is so easy to think you are not progressing I do that and have to be reminded of the gains that I have made.

I wish you lots of progress and development back to your "normal self" X

thank you all. you all basically nailed it on the head I am very impatient! I did a bad thing yesterday I was up telling my step son to get the male dog that was here, my moms, to get him outside because my little Pomeranian, Bella, is in heat! What a extra mad house this house is. Thank God today he is not interested. Ok back to my story! I was by the stairs with my Walker Jake was coming around the corner he had my mom's dog in his arms I kind of tried to move out of the way I slipped but natural for my body to do I protected my hip I just had replace it went out back... this is a good deal... but then, I guess I was going to fall anyway, however, I broke my fall and was able to catch myself completely going to the ground, but my poor right side of my body my breast Chest area landed full force on the bar in front of my Walker. Oh my word if I was a man its the same as being kicked in the private parts. I've never had a broken or bruised ribs so I guess I need some advice on that I think I might have cracked my rib or bruised it who knows. I'm going to my doctor for my hip tomorrow so I maybe I'll see if he takes xrays but, if anybody out there has ever had bruised cracked broken dislocated whatever read could you please let me know I need some advice thank you so much. I really do believe the saying when it rains it pours well you know what it's pouring rain and whatever cats dogs cows horses elephants at my house right now. :-)

I have cracked several ribs and broken a few. Breathing was always an issue let alone moving. If its still v bad I would get it checked after all rib cage is there to protect some pretty important organs. Hope it is sorted keep us posted.

Oh you poor thing! Bruised ribs can be exquisitely painful but as Legin said, you will find that if you have a cracked rib, it will be difficult to take anything like a deep breath. Tell us what the doctor says.
