TKR Back to work

I’m still so tired though.... I’m up and showered by about 10.30 and then do some light kitchen chores, dishwasher and wiping surfaces.... then I’m trying to either get out for a bit or pop to my neighbours for a cuppa... we are in a bubble together so no lockdown issues, by 3pm though I’m needing a nap!! I can’t settle to watch telly or crochet... I actually want my bed for an hour or so.... is this normal?
I'm surprised you make it to 3pm. My typical pattern was lying down by 2! :heehee: I also learned that that was about the time of day I'd get cranky. Just like a little kid who needed to be put down for a nap.

Thanks guys, for reassuring me.....
I’m still taking the antibiotics for the small infection which seems to be healing nicely.... but my knee feels hot and red elsewhere.... I think I’m going to head down to our a&e dept tomorrow and just let one of the doctors look it over. I’m not in any pain anywhere else but I’m just paranoid about infection.

So my knee has felt better today just from doing nothing!! I really need to just slow down I think... I also think my scar is healing and the scar tissue is tightening and healing and that’s why it’s stiffer.... I feel like it changes every day....

You will continue to see changes for months. One day you might hurt here and in a couple of days hurt someplace else. Even some of the time you can't figure out why you are hurting where you are hurting.

And another good day today.... up and about all day without a nap.... although I am in bed at 9pm!!

So it’s been 8 weeks since my left Tkr and I’m back to work. I’d like to have waited until after Christmas but I’d have to have taken some time on half pay and I can’t afford it. I work in a school so I’ve got two weeks off starting tomorrow. I can’t believe just how well I feel and how much this operation had improved my life. It literally feels like it did before arthritis. I’ve got full range of motion and have been walking the dog daily. Thanks to this forum for information and advice.

@UKFrenchie You will notice that I merged your newest post with your original recovery thread. For several reasons, we prefer that you only have one recovery thread:
  • That way, we have all your information in one place. This makes it easier to go back and review your history before providing advice.
  • If you keep starting new threads, you miss the posts and advice others have left for you in the old threads, and some information may be unnecessarily repeated
  • Having only one thread will act as a diary of your progress that you can look back on.
Please post any updates, questions or concerns about your recovery here. If you prefer a different thread title, just post what you want and we will get it changed for you.

If you need an urgent response to a question, just tag a member of staff.

Many members bookmark their thread in their computer browser, so they can find it when they log on.

I'm so glad to hear you are doing well! Long may this continue!
