3. Tramadol 100mg 1 tablet twice daily. (I am taking these)
Tramadol 50mg 1 tablet 4 times a day (not taking these as almost makes me unconscious)
Skydove, I don't understand this. You say you are NOT taking 50mg Tramadol because it makes you almost unconscious yet you ARE taking 100mg twice daily! Explain please?

I would also recommend that, given all your other problems, you don't do ANY exercising at all. Perhaps you missed this that was in among the Guidelines

Hips actually don't need any exercise to get better. They do a pretty good job of it all on their own if given half a chance. Trouble is, people don't give them a chance and end up with all sorts of aches and pains and sore spots. All they need is the best therapy which is walking and even then not to excess.

Hi Josephine,

I was prescribed two different boxes of Tramadol. One box has 100mg, 1 x tablet to be taken in morning 1 x tablet to be taken at night. The other box of Tramadol is 50mg and they were giving this to me as well when I was in the hospital, so I was taking 4 tablets of 50mg Tramadol on top of the morning and evening dose of 100mg Tramadol. So the nursing staff were giving me 1 x 100mg Tramadol in the morning, 4 x 50mg Tramadol spaced out throughout the day, then another 100mg Tramadol at night. The outcome of this was I was a zombie and couldn’t hardly do anything, couldn’t eat and was completely nauseous the whole time. They were also giving me Panadol and Ibuprofen on top of all the Tramadol. I felt very very sick from it. I guess it must have been the surgeons orders??? Who knows??? So when I came home, I stopped taking all the 50mg tablets and now just take 1 x 100mg Tramadol in the morning and 1 x 100mg Tramadol at night. Hope this makes sense. I no longer feel so sick.

I have also been on antibiotics as developed a UTI as well as a sinus infection since I came home. Also forgot to mention that I had a right knee arthroscopy done when I finished the cancer treatment. So a lot of stuff happened at once.

I am not doing hardly any exercising now, just one or two things as I lie in bed, which is most of the time at the moment as very very sleepy.

Thanks Josephine

PS: I just read your Knee recoveries Part I & II UK style (Josephine), which was very good and highly entertaining and informative. Thanks for posting this, Josephine!

Cheers

You are going to see this hip getting better and better.
Poor body is doing its best and if you can rest...then rest.
I had no appetite for weeks and would keep some bowls of grapes and small snacks like boiled eggs and lots of liquids close by.
Darn those "have to get up to go to bathroom right when I found a way to get comfortable" moments!:sigh:

Have a restful evening...early days still. No worries!:friends:

Well, I should think you were like a Zombie! That's too much for anybody! Here's a routine chart I worked out for my first knee. Try it and see if it helps.

Hi. Mojo,

Gee your experiene, sounds so much like my own, especially the toilet interruption when you finally get comfortable, so I related to all of that. I too don’t have any appetite, but could do with losing a few kilos, so not complaining. Thanks for this reply.

Hi Josephine

Thank you so much for this chart. I’m going to give this a go as it is very easy to understand and I’m sure it will help. Appreciate this very much!!

Cheers

Whoa, had a really rough week. First got a UTI and prescribed antibiotics that I’ve never had before Alprim Trimethoprim tablets. Then got a stomach/intestine infection (not sure what it is could even have been a reaction to the antibiotics or food poisoning, who knows? Doctors don’t know but said it was infected???). Had Stemetil injection for vomiting and nausea then slowly diahorrea eased off. Not sure what is going on here, still on Stemetil tablets as tummy gurgling like a washing machine. Good heavens, what could have caused all this? I’ve not done hardly anything, perhaps that’s the problem? Maybe I should be doing more walking, oh gosh who knows, but darn awful week.

Oh my stars...I hate that you are having you deal with this on top of recovery..aargh:hairpulling:
Hope all eases very soon!:console2:

Thanks Mojo,

No more vomiting today, so maybe on road to recovery. :dubious: Seeing doc tomorrow, so will. See what she says.

Appreciate. Your kind words...

 xx

:fingersx: it continues to improve.
Guessing you are staying hydrated and perhaps you'll be able to stand some chicken soup and nibble a few crackers...(my mama's go to)
Some cranberry juice with lots of ginger ale added maybe?
Sending good mojo your way!

Actually stopped eating and drinking when this happened so didn’t have anything for a few days prior to seeing doc as I was terrified and the violent vomiting would start up again. After seeing doc and getting Stemetil injection she told me to start drinking water again and I’ve been doing that, albeit a little to start with then building up.

The chicken soup and crackers sounds good, though!! Got the cranberry juice and some Ural which I’l have next week, on doc’s orders, she doesn’t want me to drink it just yet. But all great advice. Thanks so much Mojo, I really appreciate your replies.

:loveshwr: X

Certainly better to keep down small amounts of liquid until you think you are over that vomiting!
Ugh...it's the worst.
Hope you keep something down today and feel better!

Wow! Rough week for sure!

Do you take Probiotics? Couple years ago I had similar issue and once I could keep stuff down, started on them. Really calmed my gut down quickly. I took them about 2 weeks. I've not had issue since. Just a suggestion.

Hope you improve even more. If food is starting to sound good, that's a great sign.

I'm sure you are still feeling wrung out, but hoping today will be a step forward.
Can you make some fresh air sitting outside time today?
A little vitamin d therapy!
Hope today is a Good Day!

Hi Mojo,

Thanks for your reply.

Had to go to doctor today to find out about infection. Seems to be slowly getting better. Sunshine out today so it was lovely to drive in the sun. I love being outdoors.

I must say, I’ll never ever have another hip replacement, knee replacement or any type of replacement as every time I have major surgery, so many other things go wrong, that I don’t think that I could do it again.

I want to thank you Mojo and all guys and gals on BoneSmart. It is a wonderful website, full of information and support. Thank heavens it was created.

Bless you all!!!:wave::thankyou: xx:loveshwr::roseshwr::spin:

What a rough time you've had. My heart goes out to you.
I'm happy to read things seem to be looking up.
Some fresh air and sunshine always makes us feel better it seems.
I hope you have a good day and continue to feel better. Stay in touch.
@Skydove

Yes you are so right Mojo, being outside is such a wonderful feeling. Raining very. Hard here in Perth, WA today, so no sunshine, but I don’t mind the rain.

Cheers
:)

Hope the rain washes the blues away..this too shall pass, dear @Skydove :console2:
You WILL be glad you did this, I just know you will.
Just a bad patch you have to get through!
We shall reminisce and maybe even giggle about it when i wish you happy one year hipversary and you are strutting around.:happydance:
Healing hugs and wishing you a quick trip through the prime time post op blues!
I went through it too...:sorry:

Ooohhh so that’s what it is!!!!! Crazy hey.

Yep, I’m not normally a gloomy person and in fact my nickname is “Smiley”, so i think you are right. I’ll look forward to reminiscing on the 1 year anniversary, Mojo.

See ya
