The fit is not great, hoping that will get better as swelling goes down and gums adjust.

Wow @gullimac you are one brave guy. Well done on getting this dental work behind you. Stay on top of that pain and swelling. Hope things are easing for you!

What a relief to have that past you! Having the teeth pulling hanging over your head on top of the THR would not be a fun road to travel. Good for you @gullimac! Personally I think I'd rather have a THR than all my teeth pulled! You are one brave soul! Btw...those are GREAT looking dentures!!!!!! They definitely do not look like dentures.

Ouch. Still bruised up pretty good on my gums and my tongue is all kinds of cut up getting used to the dentures. Supposed to head back to work tomorrow, but I can barely talk. Wife cooked me some "juiced up" well mashed potatoes yesterday and that was glorious. Finally able to get the dentures out every 4-6 hours to clean them and do my salt water rinse.

On the plus side, the hips are getting some good rest with this 4 days off.

So sorry you are in pain with those new dentures. I guess you just get used to all this? I know I when I had braces on my teeth (as an adult) at first it was very painful. Lots of ulcers in my mouth from the metal wires. I did get used to them eventually. Hang in there - this too shall pass.

Very sorry to hear your mouth is so sore! I remember when my mother went through the same experience (in her 40's as well) and it wasn't long before that pain went away and her dentures felt "normal". Wishing you well!!!!

Ouch!!!! What a week?!?! Rest and heal my friend. So often, we spend all of our attention on others....and bam! It catches up with us all at once.

However, it is always AMAZING how much our bodies improve when you give them a rest and take some time for self care. As a teacher in my early career, I am imagining the stress about these next few days. You are currently on the toughest stretch. Very soon each day will feel a little easier than the day before....gums, joints, and s forth.

I know you are debating a timeline for hip #2. Although I am still debating my timeline, I would feel 100% comfortable having hip #2 at 6-8 weeks. Sadly, this is the toughest part of hubby's basketball season....the unknown land of 'playoffs' and kids. You don't know what each week will hold....until it is over :)!!! So no surgery for me until at least June! Bless that sweet wife and kids of yours. You are making progress--

Yay! So glad this step is over for you and your that much closer to your THR. I could imagine it would take some getting used to but hope it won't take long for you.

Enjoy the rest x

@gullimac Good to hear your denture surgery went well. The soars in your mouth are uncomfortable I am sure. But one hurdle crossed and another on the horizon. Your wife is so nice to have made you mashed potatoes. I bet those were yummy!!
Have a good week

@gullimac It is so strange. Time crawls as you are waiting pre-op. Frustrated and physically thwarted by your joints. I am 5-weeks post op, but time is more fluid on this side. Some days are really slow and creep along, and other days slip by in a big haze of drugs and naps. Your countdown is on! How is your mouth feeling?

Took out the dentures to sleep last night for the 1st time. It was weird, but good. Still cut up on my tongue, but the dentist adjusted the the partial on the bottom that was pinching so bad. That helped. He is worried we may have to redo the top denture to fix my bite, if we can't get it adjusted enough to fit. My wife says my speech is getting better. All-in-all a mixed bag.

Day #2 back at work my hip struggled a bit, but the mouth distracts me.

:yikes: Indeed @Cynthia777

Had a strange thought today as I struggled to eat some grits and scrambled eggs at Waffle House. The way my mouth is hurting and as badly as my hip is struggling, I have been wishing for time to fly by so that I can get back to walking without pain, sleeping in bed, eating some solid foods, etc. But, I might miss these days that I am "wishing away" late in my life.

It encouraged me to try to enjoy the little things that are going on right now that are good, in the middle of the big ball of things that suck.

@gullimac nice smile you have there :)

I had to have my four front upper teeth pulled about 2 years ago. Got my partial on the same day. My bright self decided to go get a Bill's hotdog for lunch. Seems innocent enough right? Well my first issue was that I couldn't just bite that hotdog with the new partial without having pressure on my extremely sore gums underneath. So my second bright move was to tear it up into chunks figuring I could chew with my back teeth. Would have been a great idea if it hadn't been for the super spicy chilli. My poor mouth was on fire! On the bright side I think the chilli burned out some of those nerves so once I got past the initial burn I never had any more pain.

@gullimac - keep the faith and keep going. SO glad your teeth are settling - you're knocking down these life obstacles one by one. Everything gets better in the end!
