My date for surgery is September 2. Two days away. I'm ready. I love my doctor. I'm excited about the anterior approach and the type of hip system sounds like a good one - Anthology by Smith and Nephew. My doctor uses a Hana Table. All seems to be coming together, but I am a little scared. Scared of infection, scared of one leg being longer than the other... sigh... I know I'll feel better, but just had to vent a little. thanks for listening. I will be at church tomorrow and I know I'll receive lots of love and support and prayers. I'm just ready to get it over with and back to a life that's more active and full.

I was scared of everything, but I'm doing great. It will be 4 weeks monday for me. You'll be so happy when you're on the other side of this.

@Mace1994 "do not worry about...your leg length, because who by worrying can add a single centimeter to his height ?"(total paraphrase, but applicable!!)
Trust that surgeon, it's his day job! I have a Smith and Wesson, er, Nephew, too! Somebody on here said,"it gives a whole new meaning to 'shooting from the hip!' "!! I was happy to go with whatever he selected, as he seems to go through them by the hundred-weight.
Prayers! chris

You cannot believe the wonderful changes that are coming! At almost 5 months, I am still surprised at the things I can do. Especially with my other hip needing done, I am still everyday enjoying how perfect the new hip is. Yes, being afraid is natural, but have the courage to take one moment at a time and you will make it. Will look forward to seeing your recovery!

We all had the jitters right before surgery. Totally normal!!! Keep yourself as busy as possible and soon you'll be on your way to a better, more enjoyable life with a new knee!

Nearly there @Mace1994 ! Nerves are totally normal. As Jamie says - keep busy. Come here and share your fears. We do understand and many of us have first hand experience.

Best wishes for 2 Sept - you will soon be on the road to recovery :)

Good luck for Tuesday. Hope all goes according to plan!

Tuesday will be the best day of your life! You won't think so for a while but in just a few weeks, you'll be dancing in the street! We were all scared out of our wits but once the happy juice starts, just lay back and let everyone do their job. You've got this!

Good luck. I am scheduling my appointment on the 11th. Looking forward from hearing from you soon. These groin pain has to stop. I want peaceful sleep

Mace, I was soooo afraid, I nearly backed out, but I'm so glad I didn't! Honest- the pain is so minimal compared to how your old hip feels. Your surgery will be over before you know it...

As far as infection- follow carefully what your doctor tells you and all will be fine.

I had my right hip replaced 8 weeks ago and have my left scheduled for September 29th.
A couple of tips I learned: get some satin/ shiny undies- they slide on your bed easier. Wet wipes are your friend In the bathroom and other places in your house. A reacher that is expressly for keeping in the bathroom is very helpful.

Good luck tomorrow!

@Mace1994 I just saw your post. I know you are probably in surgery now, but I am praying that the Lord give you a uneventful operation and an amazing recovery. My surgery is on the 17th. My prayers and best wishes for all September Sapphires. God bless!! Gladfon
