Re: Living nightmare...

Lunes, your left hip xray looks exactly like mine did when it wore through the plastic and I was metal on metal so it looks like it needs revising. I am surprised it is only in there eleven years, I would have thought it would last longer but it looks to be worn to one side. Please look for a consultant who has lots of experience in revising hip replacements as it is a specialised area.

Re: Living nightmare...

Hi Lunes,
so very sorry to hear of the problems & pain you're experiencing.
I would suggest that you write down (better still, type) a list of all your symptoms, type of pain, where you get it, severity etc & take a copy with you when you see your OS for him to read & keep a copy in your file.

It's so easy to go along to the appointment determined to explain it all but then forget to mention something important & also unless the OS writes it all down himself he'll be relying on his memory too. Better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck

Re: Living nightmare...

Hiya Lunes,

just wanted to say good luck for the 21st and I thought what Special Lady had to say about asking the OS what he would do if it was one of his loved ones was a good idea.

I hope and pray you get this resolved

Re: Living nightmare...

Thank you for your replies.. For anyone in the know, how common is clicking, I mean yesterday from getting up until going to bed I counted 83 clicks from my right hip, and I don't do a lot at the minute! Still in such bad pain and not sleeping, anyway 10 days now until my appt so fingers crossed..

Re: Living nightmare...

Hi Heather, I am not an expert, but that clicking doesn't sound right in MHO. I hope your doctor will be able to diagnose you correctly. Wish you good luck.

Re: Living nightmare...

That much clicking could indicate a problem but then, isn't that why you are having a revision?

Re: Living nightmare...

Your so young to have to deal with this, I hope your feeling better soon.

Re: Living nightmare...

Well I have everything crossed I will be having a revision.. Everything just seems to be accelerating and to be honest I am so down and teary.. But there are a lot worse off than me..

Re: Living nightmare...

Lunes

Just been reading up on your thread and it's disappointing to learn that you are having so many problems, not long to your appointment and I really do hope that this rotten setback can be resolved
There is nothing more I disapprove off than someone who makes a complete cock up then shows no disregard for the problem they caused in the first place.
Fingers and toes crossed Lunes.

Re: Living nightmare...

Lunes,
I'm sorry to hear about your rough time- <<<hug>>> Don't be afraid to insist your doctor listen to you, or if he won't, to find another doctor that will. I know how frustrating it is to have a doctor who you don't feel is taking your concerns seriously enough. Good luck, hang in there... and let us know how things go...

Re: Living nightmare...

You should not feel bad or should not take more harassment. There is the cures available of every pain and every diseases. You should take part of such the forums more. I like to share you my experience. I have arrow legs problem.I am27 year old now when i am 5 years old i feels endless pain in my knee joints. But as i grow i take part in the game gymnastics and other sports and as the year passes my joint become stronger and i have not feel any pain after that painful years of age 5 to 7 .

Update...

Hi

I wrote a while ago about problems I had.. I am having a revision RTHR on 26/4 under Mr Treacy, this will be the 3rd on the same side in 4 years. I am still in agony, my hip is still clicking and the past 2 days with every step I take I can honestly feel the whole thing moving, it doesn't hurt any more than usual but the sensation is just horrible and I'm just scared to move in case something catastrophic happens. I don't know if this is part and parcel of what's wrong but it's got me terrified.

Happy Easter!

Heather

Re: Update...

Hi Heather

I am so sorry that you have had to go through so much... Three surgeries on the same hip, that isn't fair and I can imagine the anxiety you must be suffering.

I guess the good part is that 26 April is not too far away.. So you should get some answers soon.

Just take it easy if you can until your revision date, and please keep us updated.. Come chat any time you want, I will follow your journey with much interest..

Life is not fair sometimes is it?

Big hugs xx

Re: Living nightmare...

Heather, I merged your three posts so your story comes together.

I had another look at your xrays and noticed that there appears to be a small shadow all around between the bone and the cement

[Bonesmart.org] 6 week check up....

(this is where I am praying you tell me you have an uncemented hip!!)

That, together with the oddly placed head can only indicate a loose implant which would be very much in keeping with your history.

Re: Living nightmare...

Heather,

Does your surgeon specialize in revisions?

And good luck to you...you SO deserve it.

Re: Living nightmare...

Hello Heather, I've just read through your thread with tears in my eyes. What a dreadful story and how frustrating that no one seemed to listen to you. So how happy I was to get to the end of the thread and read your most recent post and learn that you have less than a month to wait before getting this awful situation sorted finally. And how interesting was Jo's post about the possibility that it's a loose implant - that could explain everything.

Please keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Only 20 days to go!

Re: Living nightmare...

Hi
Thanks for merging it together! Yes it's cemented Mr Treacy thinks its loose he also thinks the large head is causing me problems and the leg length, which is approx 3cm, even though I wear heel raises, so he's going to try and do something with that too. He has told me I have to trust him until he opens me up he can not say for definite what he will do (which type he will revise with, bone grafts etc...) I am content with this as after all he did my first one and it's still going. I believe he is a very good surgeon with a great reputation..

I am so anxious about this whole moving around feeling its driving me up the wall, it's only been the past 2 days I'm sat here scared to move, it's got me cringing like when fingers scrape down a blackboard.. I'm going for my pre-ops on Tuesday so I will tell them but I won't see a doctor and there is no A&E..

I know the end is in sight it's horrendous my 2 year old has been terribly ill the past few months with asthma and chest infections and I feel like such a failure, I use 2 crutches, can't drive anymore, hardly leave the house..But I'll be fit for summer where we will head back to Spain for a 12 week holiday! And I intend to make up for lost time!

Thank you for your replies.. It means a lot..

Re: Living nightmare...

Heather,

You do know that you are not a failure at all....you just had way too much dumped on one human being and you need to get beyond this so you can start living a real life again. Think about walking on the beach pain free and how nice that will feel....

Re: Living nightmare...

What can I say but hang in there. Things will get better in time and I know that is hard to say when I know you are hurting. Please remember you can come here any time and say Hi. Welcome to the site. I wish you had just dropped in to say HI. But we do care so do take a easy. :doggieshmooze:Tashia:friends:
