THR 5 months in

Layla Thank you so much this is really encouraging! Xx

Both of my hips were different experiences. My left with complications was pretty straight forward and had no odd occurrences. My right which was supposed to be the simple one was a different story. My foot would flop outward when lying in bed. It took some time for it to stop the outward movement. I also had odd muscle pain in the lower glutes that sometimes still happens.

Thank you eman85 for the feedback this is all really helpful as my right hip was trouble free and I was not prepared for some of the issues I have had this time
This forum has been a huge help

Happy One Month Anniversary!
I hope you're doing well and I wish you a happy weekend!
Please stay in touch, we'd love to follow your progress awhile longer.
All the best to you!
@Doubledose

Thank you for your anniversary message I am doing ok - had staples instead of sutures this time and they got infected but that is now almost resolved
I’m walking 10 mins a time twice a day and although progress is slow i am feeling so much better and sleeping better
I bought natrasan the equivalent in the uk of the product you recommend on your site and it’s been a big help !
Will keep you posted xx

You're welcome @Doubledose Happy Sunday!
I am so sorry to read that you had to deal with the infection, thankfully its almost resolved.
Sounds like you're doing well aside from that little detour. I am glad the product you're using is helping. I wish you smooth sailing from here on out. Stay in touch, we'll be here! :)

Just wanted to update you on how I’m doing - the new hip is wonderful and I’m walking 15 mins a day plus I have started physio
This time around I’m listening to my body as the physio got a bit carried away after my last THR and I suffered considerably
I have struggled with an infection following removal of staples (sutures last time) and a reaction to antibiotics but apart for this small setback I am beginning to see my life falling back into place
A THR can truly give you your life back and I am feeling so grateful for a new start after 3 years of being immobile and trapped inside my home.

I can't repeat enough times (to others as well as to remind myself) what my Mexican surgeon said to me post-surgery....Escucha tu cuerpo: Listen to your body.

Thank you for the encouraging update @Doubledose
It's wonderful to hear how well you're doing after your set-back. The New Year should be a good one for you.
Have a nice week! :)

I really relate to the "trapped in house syndrome," though I've been trapped for only six months, and a week ago I managed to take a short drive with my dog to the park. Still, I've found the psychological impact of having been trapped alone in a house these many months harder to cope with than the physical recovery. Bonesmarters have helped me cope in many ways! Hope you're outvand about soon!

Happy Two Month Anniversary!
I hope you continue to do well in your recovery. Enjoy the holiday season and don't be a stranger here.
We welcome updates! All the best to you. :)
@Doubledose

This is my second hip replacement I had my first in April 2021 followed by the other hip in October 2022
I’m five months in and just starting to see real possibilities of getting my old pre arthritis life back
It’s been a long haul but sleep is now a welcome gift that I was missing badly and I’ve just started walking a bit too which opens doors to some social life again
To anyone in a similar situation I would say hang in there it may seem a long way to go but the patience pays huge benefits and the surgery is worth every moment of anxiety or recovery issues you may be having - wishing you all healing and happiness ❤️
