TKR 3 weeks post op

Hi everyone,
I haven't been posting for a while though I have been visiting and reading the posts when I can. Just checking in to say hi and update anyone interested on where I'm at in my recovery. I'm 4 months post op and feeling great. I walked around our local mall last weekend for 2 hours with no support (i used to use a shopping trolley to help reduce the pain) and realised I had no pain at all in my knee and no longer limp - I am so glad I had the surgery though there were many times in the first 6 weeks when I thought I had made a huge mistake. The only pain I have now is in the quad muscle when rising from a chair to standing position. Anyway I hope everyone is going well - thanks for all the wonderful support and great encouraging posts over the last 4 months [emoji173]

Just a quick update on my TKR, October 2016. Still no issuesand no pain so I am very pleased I went ahead with this op. I do have one question and hoping someone can advise me as I forgot to ask my Dr - I have to have a gastroscopy and colonoscopy in a month and wondering if I need a prophylactic antibiotic?
I enjoy reading everyones stories when I log on - this is such a wonderful supportive forum

This is one of those questions that is up in the air. Some docs, like mine, maintain that you need lifelong antibiotics for any procedure. So, he would say yes to your question. other docs see no need to do so and really, the new evidence supports them more than the first group.

I suggest your speak to the nurse at your doc't office----she will know what he/she recommends. Then, you can make your own decision!

Thanks Skigirl
