@helpmyknee I am not. My OS said I would be 1-2 nights in the hospital and since my surgery is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., I think it's very possible I could go after 1 night. I just don't want to be discharged until the block has worn off so we know the prescribed pain meds are doing what they're supposed to be doing.
By the way, the name of your education class: "swift"path joint"camp" makes me think... there is nothing swift about this and camp makes me think of boot camp. :flwrysmile:

@jaschembra brave? .....perhaps. Crazy?........most likely :)
I am over the restriction these knees have put on my life. No matter what I do they won't be getting better so I figure short term pain leads to long term gain.

I scheduled my surgery on January 30, 2017. TKR right knee. I am so glad I found this group. The help will be invaluable.

Here we go again! I am scheduled to get my second knee done on January 17. I have to admit that I have mixed emotions. On the one hand, I dread going through it all over again, and on the other hand, I am looking forward to getting it done. Now, I just have to get the right one strong enough to lead up the stairs. Everything else I think it can handle.

I know a little of the feeling regarding strength. My right is weaker than my left due to arthroscopy so I have intentionally begun using the right knee when stepping up and I'm trying to make it my dominant knee (nothing like TKR, I'm sure). You will be so happy when Jan. is over.
I also hope to follow your time frame and have my 2nd knee done at the end of May or June

Thanks bottomshollow, but I have have been here all along. I am just entering a new phase of this long journey.

I am definitely not doing this second surgery as outpatient. I was in the hospital 5 days with the first knee, and I am hoping for 2 or three days this time. I also went to a rehab facility for two weeks with the first one. It would be nice to go home with this one, but we will see how it goes.

@DebM I saw your new thread posting. Are you waking up in the middle of the night wondering if you have bad enough pain to go through this (oops, forgot, you're in Australia, way different time zone!)? That's one of the questions my mind uses to mess with me.

I haven't had a TKR yet, but from what I've read, the better off you are going in, it seems, the better you come out - I think primarily because your muscles are in better shape. I did ask my OS if I were to wait, could I cause the surgery to be harder or worse (can't think of the right word) and he said no. I'm not waiting.

@jaschembra I am fully committed to the surgery, I know my knees have gotten a lot worse since I first was told I need replacement 18 months ago. It's just on those (very) odd days when I am having a good day those thoughts creep in. But thanks to BoneSmart I am fully informed and organised (I'm a bit of a control freak) and am looking forward to moving on from this constant pain and restriction of my life.
