Hey grrL! If I'm correct you still have time to guzzle a gallon of water or a high protein drink. But come midnight...:bignono: What time do you have to report to hospital?

Hey Jean!
I am thinking of you and sending Super HUGZ!:loveshwr:

Guess you have checked into Happy Hotel :chillpill: and hopefully by tomorrow you will be able to enjoy a tasty nosh

Let me know how you're doing.

Hey Ridgerider,
I had surgery yesterday afternoon and twenty four hours later I'm home. I'm feeling great and walking is without knee socket pain, it's just incision pain that I know will get better as the days go by. The pain I had before wasn't every going away without help. I was really scared but I didn't tell my sons that. When I gave my youngest son, who lives nearby, a copy of my living will. He asked, "why are you giving me this? It's only knee surgery". We lost their dad four years ago, and I think he needed to minimize it rather than accept that it is actually major surgery.

Thank you so much for checking in with me and for your very kind and welcomed good wishes.

Jean

Here I go!! I'll check in later!

Greetings @Jean3600!
You are already HOME after a TKR?!!:wowspring:You ROCK!!

It sounds like you had a great CREW both at the hospital and Home (Blessings to your Family  ) It sure seems that no matter how or when, Death never brings the operator's manual that answers the WHY.

Did you do a spinal or GA?
Warm Regards!

Good Afternoon!
@DEM8869 How are you feeling now? Are you still in hospital or did you tie those sheets together and make your GREAT ESCAPE?:driver:

I guess you have already had your first PT session. Was it easier or harder than you imagined?:treadmill:
Also is this your first or...?

Whenever you're up to it please touch base! I have 2 more days of vicarious experience to "enjoy" before the whip comes down Monday.

HUGZ!!

Hello! Let's put it this way...I'm FEELING...lol I let out a few tears this morning but I think that being overtired and in pain...im allowed to shed a few. I'm in the hospital till tomorrow or Monday. They just changed my pain meds from oxycodone to dilautid..much better now. I handle pain very well usually. I don't take anything for pain usually unless I've had surgery Surgery was at 730 a yesterday. It took about 2 hours. I was able to get out of bed around 2 to use the bathroom, then again around 6. The physical therapist was with me that time and we walked for a little bit. I find that being in the bed actually hurts more than being up using the walker. One off the nurses told me to press the back of my knee into the bed...keep the knee straight because it's easier to get it to bend than to straighten it if it gets stuck in a bent position. I am looking forward to the healing process, at least I know it will get better! Don't be scared, I was...but I did fine! Not going too sugar coat it..there will be pain...but it WILL get better. I need to have my left done too...just not sure of the surgery date yet. I m sending you good vibes...let me know how you make out when u have a chance! [emoji6]

I would like to hear if the REVISION surgery is a longer or shorter recovery? My first TKR was botched and recovery was forever! If it is done right the second time, then I am thinking that recovery should be shorter?

Every recovery is different even on the same person. Your recovery should be about the same amount of time expected for a primary TKR. 3 months to finally start feeling like yourself, and up to a year to feel fully recovered.
That said, everyone is different and recovery time can vary greatly.

Hi Folks!

PT was here today and I drew an absolute ACE. Her name is Joan and she put me through my paces but with gentleness and explanation along the way. Sitting in a chair my knee is flexed to 88. She was surprised at that. I am able to do straight leg lifts, quad sets, short arc sets, hip adduciton and abduction without any pain ( inwell a little grunt maybe). The gluteal sets got me to laughing. Joan said try to picture holding onto a $1000 bill between your bums and don'ht let anyone take it away from you. Each time I tried, I would start laughing. My whole left leg is one big bruise and laughing made me clinch which made me groan. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

Doc has reduced my oxy to one 5mg every six hours. My last morphine will be in the morning. So far my pain has been at 3-4 on the chart. Joan had a theory that previous to surgery my pain was so bad that post op it doesn't feel worse than 3-4 because I no longer have the pre-surgery pain. Hmm. Maybe.

Good night dear folks. Thanks for all your kind thoughts and good wishes. I send along to you my best wishes for healthy and strong recoveries.

Jean

Hi to all! My TKR surgery is scheduled on October 25, on my right knee and left knee to follow!
Has anyone has the surgery with a spinal block instead of receiving general anesthesia? [emoji258]Grammy Rosey

yes I had the same in Jan 2015. I survived and its the best so I heard. Any other questions feel free to ask.
Best of luck to you, just listen to the Drs orders.
I feel like a new person now and I love my new knee.

Hi to all you smarties!!! I am having TKR revision surgery on Saturday. My first TKR on Dec 23, 2014 left me with many months of pain, swelling and stiffness. Good luck to those of you with upcoming TKRs and folks on the other side!

Ann
