Hi Lads and Lassies got home yesterday shattered NO not from the op but from the silly self centred man that was put into my section as no one else would have him.
He turned night into day and day into night, the op seemed to have went well though and touch wood I feel a tad stiff on my right side.
One down one to go

Re: Jst got back yesterday

Whew....sounds like you had quite a hospital experience. I bet you ARE really glad to be home to some peace, quiet, and normalcy again.

Oh the joys of being in a ward!

Glad you're back and okay though, forbesy. :thmb:

Home sweet home, eh forbesy?

Good job! You have one hip yet to go? Best of luck to you!

I am glad that you are back home and on the mend. Sounds like the patient put into your section was just like my first college roommate!

Tim C.

They say that a hospital is no place to get better. A friend of mine was just in for a broken wrist and her roommate moaned "I'm dooooomed!" all night long. Good times.

I'm glad you're back home, I hope you get some sleep and can start feeling better now!

Oh brother! That's a good way to lighten the atmosphere!

Jo although I am not suffering from excessive swelling would it be an idea to put a bag of frozen peas on it for a few minutes each day would htat help with recovery.:th_scratch:

Woke up this morning with a temperature sweaty and feeling sick, the wife pointed after a shower last night that my wound looked a bit red in the centre.
Popped up to the docs and she said my temperature was slightly high so she has put me on a course of penicillin just as a precaution.

Glad you got to your GP quickly forbesy. It could be nothing but best at this point to get things taken care of quickly.

Hope you are feeling better now. Rest and ice. Please do let us know how you are getting on!

Starting to get on the wife's nervous already after only 7 days recovery has warned that I won't last another seven If I don't shuuuuuuut up. :th_skeptical:
Should I pop into the Royal for the other hip replacement.

Well. You better behave. Until you've got that second hip and can run when she comes after you!!

Can't be having any infections, now. You knock that off.

You mean you're not icing your hip? Oh my gosh - did no-one tell you that it would help with the pain, stiffness and swelling?

Swelling isn't necessarily on the outside. Internal swelling happens just as often, causing pain or discomfort.

Have two or three packs of peas - preferably 1kg ones - and use them regularly during the day on a rotation so you always have one ready to use in the freezer.
It's also a good idea to put them in a plastic bag to keep them separated from the food since they're going to be used on your bum! :th_heehee:

Make sure when you first apply them that you have a tea towel between your skin and the pack as you can risk freezer burn!
Once the 'heat' of the fresh ice has worn off, you can apply them direct to the skin.
It's okay so long as the frozen pack feels moderately comfortable. If it doesn't, use the tea towel!

Yesterday went completely pear shaped, took my penicilen and felt great by supper time so went through and made the wife a cup of tea.
When i was about to sit down i could feel a wet sensation down the back of my leg thought it was water from the bunker but when i pulled down my joggers there was a pool of blood coming from my wound.
Wife ran me down to hospital and they advised my clips were fine and it was bruised blood escaping from my wound which can sometimes be common :th_sigh: and got back home ok.
Feel ok this morning but have no intentions of moving from this couch onwarda and upwards.

Oh dear - that must have been a bit scary. How are you feeling in terms of infection today forbesy? Hope things are better on that front as well.

Just consider these little incidents as bumps along the recovery road. Hope you are resting!

No infection symptoms no sweating no sickness and feel much better than yesterday.

Glad to hear you are feeling better today. Take it easy, put your feet up and let others look after you for a few days.
Cathy

Whew!!! No one needs THAT kind of excitement! I'm glad everything is okay. It was smart of you to get to the Emergency Room quickly, though. Please take it a little easy for a while....
