Hello to all April Rainbow Hippies! I hope you are all on the way to health and happiness
I have been busy getting my life back together and wanted to post the latest.
11 weeks from surgery.
I have been doing yoga, swimming and walking which has all contributed to my feelings of...
@whiteshoecovers - I feel that you have indicated the same area as me but mine is uncomfortable not like your pain.
I believe it does involve psoas attachment but also the abdominal muscles - practically every muscle around the hip
joint. They have all been affected by our surgery (s)...
@sunbunny - hi, glad to hear your almost ready for the pool.:swim: Be patient with
the last scab, I too, had to wait and wait. But I'm swimming now and doing all sorts of water
exercises without thinking about getting an infection. Especially at a public pool and
the kids out of school for the...
@Granny Di - Thanks for the encouragement! We all progress so differently.
Although I forgot to mention about the horrible time I ran out of my pain pills. :yikes: Entirely my
fault, didn't realize that I was that low. Anyway, I had to take Percocet which I had not been
taking for 2 weeks...
5 weeks from surgery:
Not much new to report either. I'm still working on going up and down the stairs smoothly
foot over foot. I have cut back on tramadol to one pill every 6 hours. No problems with
sleeping in the night.
I do partial PT while still in bed before I get up. Then do the...
@Granny Di - I know with the Anterior approach surgery, there is a tendency to injure the
lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. That is what I have going on since the incision is
almost directly above the pathway of the nerve in question. Also believe I have some
issue to with the saphenous nerve...
4 weeks out from surgery:
I drove my car yesterday and also worked for 1 hour. Last week, was my first attempt at driving and
it was doable but I'm glad I waited one more week as I was more confident of driving an automatic with
my operated right leg.
I also did a 45 minute lymphatic drainage...
@harry47 - Hi, I had my right hip replaced April 13 with the direct anterior approach. My
incision is approx 4 3/4 inch long just right of the middle of thigh. I had no restrictions &
went home the following day. However, I had a very tough first week-lots of pain and
trying to get the right...
18th Day of Recovery (almost 3 weeks out)
Had a good 2 week follow up with OS on April 27. They said I am on track and it is okay
and expected to have pain/soreness/bruising around knee and ankle. They removed my
waterproof bandage and said incision is healing well. Then put on ster -strips...
@Cindy99 - I'm sending you energy and lots of oxygen, breathe, breathe. You will get thru this
rainbow surgery with flying colors :puppysmooze:. We are all with you 100% and look forward
to you posting on the other side.
@copham - Yes I am usually the caregiver and definitely prefer to do it myself before
asking or bothering someone else. I like progress and surprises too. It can be the
small steps and little details to be grateful for.
@Cleifeste - Yup, that first BM is such a welcome release. I was getting concerned since it
seemed liked I was taking a lot in and nothing coming out! Took approx 4 days before things
got moving. So sorry about the vomiting:groan: My good friend told me about milk
of magnesia but only to...
@mydog - Thank you for your progress report, it made me feel better and confirmed that I
know my body best! I read all about the blues but still when it happens...normally I am very
upbeat, & see the wine glass or beer has half full:cheers: . I actually havn't had any alcohol,
maybe that's...
