@U2GIRL I am 2.5 YEARS post-right TKR, and I still have problems with tightness in my right calf. I have to stretch my calves diligently 4-5 days a week to make that tightness stay away. Walking on anything but flat roads/surfaces makes it worse, especially if there are hills. I had horrible...

@slk85 Hi and welcome to Bonesmart. I've had a similar kneecap tracking issue with many of my knee surgeries, including my knee replacement 2 yrs ago. I'm no Dr, but I've done lots of PT over the years. For me personally, I found my kneecap tracking problems often came from having a VERY tight...
@grey j I am in a similar situation as you, though I no longer have pain in my TKR knee. I saw my surgeon at the 11 month mark AND at the 16 month mark because I can't get past 95-100 degrees, depending on the day. I also asked about an MUA both times and was told by 2 surgeons and a PA that an...
I agree that your level of exercise is kind of heavy for an 8-wk old new knee. I bet that's contributing to your night pain and continued swelling/inflammation (which causes pain).
If your knee is already bending to 110 at 10 weeks, you do NOT need an MUA. The information you're getting is very troublesome. Many people need 3-4 months to get back to 110-120, and time will make things improve. I've been down this road with 11 knee surgeries and years of PT following...
I'm jumping in to comment on your earlier post about chronic inflammation....it actually happens all the time following TKR. Surgeons just don't want to admit it!!! I developed it after my ACI (cartilage implant) procedure in 2016 when the PTs tortured me for 5 long months----all because I...
I am one of the ones who was barely getting by at 8 weeks post-op due to what some would consider an unusual amount of pain. I was still taking 1 Percocet (oxycodone) every 6 hours at 8 wks, along with a prescription anti-inflammatory. I had what my surgeon called an "acute inflammatory...
With a bend of 120-ish at 2 months, you are doing WONDERFULLY. Many of us are and would be very jealous!!!! :heehee:
I bet the constant PT 3X a week is adding to the swelling/inflammation, as that is A LOT of PT on a knee that needs a full year to get back to normal after such a brutal...
You are suffering from the same thing that many here have problems with--overaggressive PT that is keeping your knee swollen and inflamed. A swollen knee will NOT bend. You have witnessed the rebound swelling following "forced bend" by your therapist. He only got it to 100 because he forced it...
There's no way I would have done one at 6 wks, as I had severe swelling and needed a good 3 months to get to 100 degrees after my right TKR in May 2019. I had an MUA back in 2016 for a different problem (same knee) and didn't see ANY improvement!!!!! It took 5 months to get my range of motion...
15 MONTH Update----Again, I'm Always Full of Suprises:whistle::heehee:
Many of you know I've actually lost range of motion since last winter. I had 104 degrees of bend in October and have lost down to 85-90 (maybe 95 after some rough biking). I was fed up and made an appointment with the...
Many people don't do any PT until week 3-4, if at all now-a-days. It really depends on you and your Doctor. You are still so early in your recovery that all you need is rest, ice, and elevation---plus whatever you feel you can do. Don't let anyone force you to speed up your recovery or feel...
I'm glad you had such a positive experience with the pain management Dr. :) It helps so much to have hope, and I'm glad you're seeing some improvement.
I'm also considering looking into my situation further, as I'm hoping more can be done to improve my bend. My soft tissues above and below...
Thanks @Jockette for pointing me to this thread. :)
I am very sympathetic to your situation, as I know what it's like to go through multiple surgeries, do all the work, and still fight with pain and stiffness or restricted ROM. I've listened to the PTs, let them make me scream and cry for 20...
