THR Pain Hip Recalled - Seriously?

I had a hip replacement in 2012. At first everything seemed okay. I began having similar pain a year later and had to have back surgery on the same side as my hip replacement. That didn't solve the problem, so in 2014 I went back to the OS who replaced my hip. I was having back and some groin...

    Class of 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015 Hippies

Had an anterior RTHR on October 26, 2012. Hip is doing very well. Still a little pain every now and then, but nothing to speak of. The left hip needs to be done sometime. Unfortunately, I learned about three months ago that I have OA in my back with two compressed discs. That is causing pain now...

THR Limping after 11 wks and Leg length difference

Everyone's recovery is different. I have LLD. I'm about 8 months post op and it took a long time to get rid of the limp. One reason was habit, the other was it still sometimes hurt even after 12 weeks. It took a long time for all the swelling to go away. It'll all work out eventually.

Newbie here , "too young" with lots of hip pain

Wildsong, I'm 49 and was bone on bone with large bone spurs. My OS said the effectiveness of injections would probably be limited and would be delaying the inevitable. So I had a RTHR in late October. Your never to young to have your hip replaced.

Revision THR Revision Hip 26th October

Mand75, I'm about on week 10 of my RTHR. I thought I'd be running a marathon at 10 weeks (okay, I'm exaggerating), but I did assume I'd be pretty much totally back to normal by now. Although I'm doing well, my expectations were too high. I'm experiencing some of the same issues you describe. I...

THR hip feels okay but body nackered

Californiagal, I'm about 10 weeks post op and I totally relate to sleep deprivation. Pain meds like Percocet do not make me drowsy, they keep me awake, but I needed pain control in order to sleep. I got so tired of not sleeping two weeks after surgery my family doc prescribed me tamazapam for...

THR Nerdgrrl has a new hip!

Nerdgrrl, Sorry to hear about your knee. My RTHR was only two weeks prior to yours and we're at similar stages of recovery. I'm now having problems with my right knee. In fact I still have some thigh pain down to my knee. The physical therapist explained that he thinks it is all part of...

    THR Hip Recovery So Far

Okay, I'm about three weeks out from surgery and things have been going great for several days. I've been on the cane for a week. Drove to church yesterday, and later in the afternoon did my normal 20 minute walk at a slow pace and it felt good considering the normal expected discomfort. Today...

Duxdeluxe is a Newbie preparing for LTHR Surgery 11/12

The walker with the shelf is a great idea and works perfectly for transporting meals. I actually borrowed one from my wife's grandmother and it works like a charm. Me and the family had a good laugh at how I, being 49 years old, was having to borrow a walker from an 82 year old women.

    THR First night home

Hi Foggymama, please rest assured that you're not alone. I'm only a couple of weeks out from my THR and even though I had a couple of months notice I was not prepared for some of the personal matters that I couldn't take care of alone at the hospital and my first few days at home. My wife has...

    THR Hip Recovery So Far

Well, I'm almost 2 weeks out from my total right hip replacement on 10/22/12 using the anterior approach, so I figured I would share my experience thus far. In short, things are going pretty well. I have Zimmer poly on ceramic ball. The facility where I had surgery has a unit totally dedicated...

no pain in hips, back damage

I'm having my right hip replaced this Monday (10/22). I think back pain without hip pain is pretty common. My back pain manifested first and then progressed to pain down my leg. My hip pain didn't start until the OA was actually quite advanced. Actually my back pain caused one particular...
