@mendogal and @myglasshalffull Thank you so much for your support and advice. It does help hearing sage advice from someone of one's age range. Heard and taken. The high protein diet is something I'm lagging behind in as I"ve lost my appetite a bit. I do have 3 lbs. weights which will...
Update and long post alert: I have just passed 11 weeks today. I see my surgeon next week for the 12 week checkup and X-rays to see that everything is still stable including those 7 big screws. Ugh.
I still feel as if I'm progressing very slowly and watching my tendency to panic or "give up"...
Oi Voy! Thought I'd come over and visit your page since you've so kindly visited mine. What a saga! I guess you do know about letting the body slowly heal and having patience.
Reading of the medical drama - isn't it so frustrating to be in pain and seeking healing and have to navigate medical...
@Klassy So sorry to hear about your spill! Even hearing about them gives me shutters and I'm glad you are on the mend and did not break anything. I appreciate the encouragement since it appears you have had both hips done. You would know! Several active years...well that is worth the surgery...
Oh thank you, @myglasshalffull . Just what I needed to hear this morning to start my day. Thank you for your kind and supportive words. I can't hear enough...you can't exercise a hip to heal. It's a matter of time.
Thanks @mendogal . I think I'll give it a couple more days and if it does not settle down on the burning and zinging I'll reach out for some prescription meds.
@Jamie Thanks to the support of folks like you. It's amazing how readily Bonesmart's staff wisdom pops up in the brain now. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. You guys are a lifeline.
Ok ladies. Breathe. Just breathe. Do not panic nor create drama. :)
We are approaching the one week point tomorrow with the entire foot down walking "motion" and EVERYTHING is singing and zinging and sore! I've backed off putting more than 2% (maybe) for weight bearing because I got too...
@benne68 Just what I needed to hear! AND from someone who knows first hand. OK. I'll relax. I will definitely keep using my walker as he indicated.
Grace. I like that.
I'm glad your recent surgery has gone well, also!
@Layla thank you. Actually I am still very apprehensive. I don't want to overdo it and I'm easing into all this. However after two weeks non-weight and then 6 weeks toe touch weight, just walking flat foot and maybe somewhere between 5% and 10% weight, I'm pretty sore. I'd say on a scale of...
Long post alert: Update from my 8 week check up with surgeon. Yes, I saw the SURGEON not the PA. :)
Everything is still stable and looks in place. He says he is very conservative and I'm not out of the woods. In fact he would not breathe easier until between 6 months and 1 year considering...
@mendogal I actually have been on a walker the entire time. Because of the pain in my shoulders/upper arms I had tried the crutches (just a bit) and they are unstable so I've been on the walker entirely. I use the crutches only to get down two steps out of the house and back into the house...
@myglasshalffull thank you so much for the recommendation. Yes - the crutches and I are not the best of friends. I've used them before but the the TTWB I can't seem to keep my balance as much.
Thank you @Hip4life. I can tell you know how LOOOONG that six weeks can feel. I really cringed at 4 weeks when he extended to eight weeks. Heating pad seems to be my best friend on the shoulders and arms - I've kept that thing going. I did try the crutches but had a couple of near falls...
Thank you all again. I'll exercise that patience muscle, @benne68 for sure. I've come too far in this process to ruin it. @Layla and thanks for confirmation to follow instructions. He has warned me that it will be a longer recovery so I just need to trust the process. Last visit he showed us...
