Thank you so much @Layla!!
I can't believe it's been so long since my first surgery. I went on a walk yesterday, and all I could think of was that I'm no longer broken. For the first time in my life.
@Layla You are absolutely correct. I did have a typo in there. Not week. LEG. Geez. I need to sleep more.
@CricketHip Also correct! That is my issue. I have to forcefully focus during walking and make sure I straighten my right leg all the way and place it heel down and roll it to my toes, etc...
I have done several days these week with walks where I averaged 4000 steps. Woooo!
My right week is significantly weaker in muscle power, and I have to force myself to go full length steps instead of bring it curled at the knee? Does that make sense?
Sitting is a pain because I get super sore...
Guess who joined The Overdid It Club? Me. Only my sorest spot is my back, especially when I sit down. Cram, cram, cram. But my legs are getting stronger. It's funny to try and take my socks off my rolling them against the carpet, and the left one is fine, but the right one won't push hard...
Thank you, thank you!
I did 1675 steps on Tue, then 3600 yesterday, and 1900 today. It's going. It's going! Visited a friend today who had a hip replacement last year and I didn't even know. We joked about a bunch of stuff. :p
I also wanted to add for anyone who may read this is that two weeks ago I had a major case of, "This will never end and be my life forever now." Stiff, sore, immobile, with 20 extra pounds (at least). But 4.5 weeks in and life starts looking normal again. I've been doing all sorts of awkward...
I can't wait to start doing more strenuous stuff too! I will be able to for the first time in years. I've never done yoga, but I want to bend and stretch like a rubber band now, with brand new hips. And I want to bike hardcore in the Spring. :D
Glad to hear your back is doing better. I suspect (and I'm not a medical professional, just someone with a messed up skeleton) that it was due to your body adjusting to the new hip and your new way of balancing things. Isn't it scary how we get one thing fixed, but several others chime in and...
I agree that 2" is a TON, and they wouldn't lie to you or they're legally in trouble, you know.
Leg difference is scary. I totally get it. They told me they'd make mine even, and guess what? My right one is 2mm longer than the left one. And it was longer before the surgery to begin with. What I...
Thanks @leejaa
I've been bringing crutches when I go to Costco (huge store) for instance and want to walk a bunch, but surprisingly, I've had to deal with impatient people trailing me like I was blocking their way and kids def don't care. Maybe it's just the area I live in. Ugh.
They do steer...
I saw some of your previous posts, and yes. I could lift my legs like I was marching before the surgery. And yes. I get boat loads of discomfort after I get up from a chair or similar. My back even twinges, but I've read plenty of posts (even from forums in other countries) that this is totally...
@Maldugs,
I am approaching 13 weeks on one side, and 5 weeks on the other, and I still find the regular toilet aggravating after the raised seat. Too low, seat too sharp. LOL. Spoiled Princess here. And hey! Why not keep the soft cushion on the chair? It's so nice to your bum. I'm thinking of...
Thank you for the responses, everyone. I figured the stitches would hurt forever. I probably shared this, but my I had surgeries for the same problem as a kid, and my scars felt funny into my teenage years. Probably because of growth and hormones and all that because it settled a little after I...
Yesterday hit the exhaustion point and took a long nap in the afternoon, which isn't saying anything because I'm a night owl and often take naps in the noon, but that one was late, 4:30. Did me a lot of good because I had a sorer right hip all day and was taking it easy.
Walking is becoming...
@Layla
Thank you so much! That's encouraging about the rotation. In my case, I notice it quite a bit, and the doc told me to just keep an eye on it.
I have been doing what you suggested: practicing full strides with proper steps. I do limp without the assistive devices, but it's more of a...
