THR Life as a Double Hipster. How are you doing?

Happy Three Month Anniversary, Lefty!
We‘re prepping the confetti for the big drop
I hope your holiday weekend is all you want it to be. Enjoy!
@Ava J
Thank you, thank you!
I did 1675 steps on Tue, then 3600 yesterday, and 1900 today. It's going. It's going! Visited a friend today who had a hip replacement last year and I didn't even know. We joked about a bunch of stuff. :p

Guess who joined The Overdid It Club? Me. Only my sorest spot is my back, especially when I sit down. Cram, cram, cram. But my legs are getting stronger. It's funny to try and take my socks off my rolling them against the carpet, and the left one is fine, but the right one won't push hard enough. Woooo. Started driving little bits.

It seems it never hurts until we stop:umm:so it's very easy to overdo at this stage. This recovery certainly is not a straight line.
[Bonesmart.org] Life as a Double Hipster. How are you doing?

Hope you are easing off a bit on the walking and giving things time to catch up...and use your rest time to keep chilling:ice:
Some heat on your back might help some too.
At one point I was heat on the back and ice on the front.:sigh:

Yay for the driving...:driver:
My bucket seats required a cushion to keep my hips from complaining.
Hope today is a good day.:tada:

I have done several days these week with walks where I averaged 4000 steps. Woooo!

My right week is significantly weaker in muscle power, and I have to force myself to go full length steps instead of bring it curled at the knee? Does that make sense?

Sitting is a pain because I get super sore, but moving around isn't bad. And walking makes me feel better all around.

:hi: Happy Saturday Ava!
My right week is significantly weaker in muscle power, and I have to force myself to go full length steps instead of bring it curled at the knee? Does that make sense?

I’m assuming you mean your right leg and “week“ was a typing error.
Not really understanding the two questions though. Please try another explanation so we can answer your questions, sweetie.

Have a lovely weekend, hope to hear from you soon. :)

I think I know what you mean, @Ava J . Are you saying that instead of taking a longer stride with the surgery leg, you need to keep the knee flexed a bit and with a shorter step?
Have you considered using walking/hiking sticks to help balance yourself and maybe that would assist you in lengthening your stride?
You seriously are doing so well. Having two hips replaced so closely together causes your body to adjust to a lot of new things and maybe it feels like you are progressing slowly but you truly are perking right along?
I used a cane or my walking sticks for quite some time so I had a reminder to focus on my gait.
I hope I have understood what you were describing, and feel free to correct me if I didn't.

@Layla You are absolutely correct. I did have a typo in there. Not week. LEG. Geez. I need to sleep more.

@CricketHip Also correct! That is my issue. I have to forcefully focus during walking and make sure I straighten my right leg all the way and place it heel down and roll it to my toes, etc.

Left leg for the most part feels back to normal, other than residual "wooden" stiffness feeling and still working on my squatting, bending, etc. Better than ever, actually. Sleeping on it. Right side is good too for sleeping. I've been sleeping on my stomach again because that's been me most of my life, and it feels good. I started being able to turn on the spot without bracing myself first, so it's a more natural move. And I've been putting socks on with my foot propped on the bed for both legs. :D

I'm just beginning my journey, any advice is welcomed. My first hip left is scheduled for October 19th.

Happy Two Month Anniversary, Righty! You’re moving right along. :walking:
Enjoy the better and better coming your way!
A great rest of the week to you. :)
@Ava J

I hope Lefty is doing well. Happy Four Month Anniversary!
Wishing you a beautiful Autumn.

Thank you so much @Layla!!
I can't believe it's been so long since my first surgery. I went on a walk yesterday, and all I could think of was that I'm no longer broken. For the first time in my life.

You‘re welcome!

I'm no longer broken. For the first time in my life.
Aww, such a sweet sentiment. So heartwarming to read.
Have a great week! :)

Happy Three Month Anniversary, Lefty!
I hope you’re feeling stronger month by month and looking forward to a new year with your new hips and surgeries behind you. Take good care, be safe and stay well! :)
