TKR Troy knee number 2

Good few days. Fog Head better, stopped MS Contin last night. Hope it's related. Took nice 10 min slow walk outside this morning. On the ice machine now, resting and elevating. Question, is there a "too much" ice? Is 10hrs in a day OK? Very ready to get my staples out tomorrow. They feel like they're pulling when I stand now. Hope this feeling is gone when the staples are gone. I'll see tomorrow.

I often gave myself 10-20 minute "breaks" from the icing if my leg felt too cold. Otherwise in the first few weeks it was pretty much constant icing. Just be sure you have a light towel or cloth between the icing device/gel pack, etc. and your skin so you don't give yourself frostbite.

Staples taken out yesterday - 10 days post surgery. Bit concerning as wound not as closed as I'd expect (comparing to knee 1, so small data set). See photos attached - shows areas of wound that still look "raw". Visiting nurse was going to discuss with surgeon's office - I did not hear anything back from that (and it was Friday). We agreed with PT not do any flexion movements with concern of opening the wound. Overnight now with steri-strips - no leakage all looks clear/dry. Have others seen such an open wound at 10 days? Any concerns - seems open area for infection?? Any concern here? As for bruising from few days ago, attached is latest photo.
Current plan to keep steri-strips in place obviously -do my walking and ankle pumps, quad sets. continue Ice machine. And with wound continuing to remain clean/dry start moving the joint as before. but not straining the wound to open - when is concern for it opening/leaking gone? Or is it gone already? -

Heard from nurse this afternoon. Surgeons office not concerned with "open" nature of wound. Very happy to hear that ( but actually kind of surprised to hear it). But good to go is good.
