I’m 10 weeks today . Just returned on Monday from 4 days up north and actually walked from the gate to rental cars !! Knee felt pretty good then went to PT yesterday and my PT insisted I do the sled leg press at 37 lbs and all last nite plus today I was in agony with swelling back.
Tomorrow I will tell PT NO to the sled!! I love this forum as they helped me through my recovery.
Please listen to Jamie - you are over doing it which will not help you. It will only make your recovery more difficult. I learned the hard way from my first TKR. If it hurts, do not do it. If it causes pain and swelling and pain after.... stop. This group helped me through a dark time. I hope (and plan) on having a better recovery his time.
Again, thanks for your support and I will see you "on the other side"
Be well and take care of yourself

Sometimes we need to "get burned" in order to understand what the word "hot" means.

Since I hadn't yet discovered BoneSmart, I pushed much to hard on my hip recovery. But, thankfully, the wonderful folks here helped me get through both knee recoveries.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We're glad to have your back!

By now I assume you had your surgery. I just jumped back on here having just had a robotic assisted Jiffy RTKR. Over 2 years ago I had a traditional LTKR. The differences between the two are staggering. Upper quad area and assorted tendons and ligaments were left alone. I have been only on Tylenol since I got home. Walking well without assistance. I’m at 90 bend and 0 flex but starting PT tomorrow to improve and strengthen. My traditional 2 years ago was really tough. I did have to travel 170 miles to get my Jiffy. Post op visit Tuesday will be virtual! All the best with your recovery.

Hi and thanks for reaching out. Yes, I had my surgery on April 3rd. My recovery this time can not even be compared to the first one 4 years ago. That was a brutal experience and the reason why I waited 4 years. I am sure some of it has to do with the technique (Robotic assist this time) and a lot to do with the surgeon! I had no bruising and minimal swelling. I also have an ice machine this time which is amazing! I do not have a Jiffy knee though. We are probably around the same bend/flex at this point. I have PT today and I'll ask him to measure. I saw the PA on Friday to have the staples removed and he was happy and said I was "3 weeks ahead of schedule" what ever that means! (Sort of like AP knee.)I am taking it easier this time around. I do exercise each day, but if I am in pain I do less or just walk. I am supposed to start out patient PT next week, if I can drive, and I am going to insist they are gentle. BTW, can you drive yet?
Continue to do well and let me know what the surgeon says.
Take care

Great news! Don't want to see you sidelined after the great progress you've made. Let us know how it goes if you have the time. Best Wishes for a good week and a perfect match in a PT. :)
