TKR at Hospital for Special Surgery in NY

I did not go to a joint camp or anything like that, but every time that I had a meeting with my OS or his PA, I made sure that my wife was there. That way, we would be both hearing the same things and, if there were questions about any of the protocol, either of us could ask a questions and get it straightened out. My wife also wrote down a great deal so that there were no surprises.

It also meant, by having a support person, that we would know what to expect and that there were no misinterpretations, nor did we overlook or forget something.

Salsera if you don't mind me asking, how long was your stay??

I stayed 3 nights and went to a rehab facility on Saturday, December 26. I live alone and could not be sent home at that point. I stayed in the rehab for 6 nights. I went home on January 1, 2016.

Everything at HSS proceeded perfectly. They really know exactly what they are doing there. Every hospital should operate like that.

I am doing incredibly well. I go for physical therapy 3 times a week and the therapist cannot believe how I've recovered. If I don't use my cane I barely have a limp. The range of motion still needs work.

I have hip dysplasia and the OA in my left hip went from about a 1-2 a year ago to a 4-5 in August to a 10+ in December. The only solution for me was a THR. I was not anxious at all before the surgery and it couldn't have occurred soon enough.

I can't wait to see Dr. Della Valle on February 2 to thank him!
