TKR TKR after tibial plateau fracture

So sorry to hear this, and I can only imagine how frustrating this must be for you to have so many radically different opinions. There are so many factors at play here, I do understand how your situation would be difficult to diagnose. But….good for you that you keep seeking answers. I hope you continue with that, as it’s possible that you will find the answers and hopefully a solution that goes beyond ”just live with it.”
I know I can't live with it like this. Every day for 19 months I've tried and tried with this leg and have had no improvements. I've basically had no life, not been able to go anywhere or do anything with the instability and pain. If nothing can be done I can't take years and years of this situation. Sorry for sharing such a depressing thought and thanks so much for your support @Jamie

I’m sorry that you still don’t have a better functioning leg. :console2:It always amazes me how some people come through this so well and others don’t. My outcome hasn’t been great, but it’s manageable. No one seems to know, or to care, what’s wrong with mine. Mine is enough that I’ve accepted it. I hope you find someone who can give you at least that, if not better.:console2:

@Ayse Sorry that you've had this horrendous experience with your knee replacement. This is a brutal op indeed. I can't understand how some people do so much better than others. I hope you find a surgeon who can help you. x

I'm so sorry you still have problems. I hope things will improve for you and thanks so much @Jockette

The TKR has just added to the existing problems unfortunately so far. I don't think anyone really knows what's going on. Thanks so much @Anniemof

I am so sorry. :console2: Please don’t give up searching for answers or the right surgeon to help you at your young age. There has to be someone out there that can help you turn this around. It may take time and multiple tries, but will be worth it once the issue is discovered and dealt with. We’re here for support when you need us.
Best wishes for you!

Thanks so much. The support is very much appreciated @Layla

If you don't get any satisfaction with your current surgical opinions, I wonder whether it might be worth writing/ e- mailing to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore? They must have surgeons there who specialise in complex post injury surgery.

I will try that also. Thanks so much for the suggestion @EalingGran

@EalingGran I did indeed see someone who works at RNOH and he was very nice and listened to my long list of problems and questions. He has said that there is front to back instability and posteriorlateral corner instability, some rotation of tibia, femerol implant is slightly too big so knee is overstuffed. He had an MDT meeting with other colleagues and he's recommended revision with rotating hinged replacement and thinks he can get things about 80% better. 3 other surgeons I saw who weren't revision specialists suggested similar but I'm going with the Stanmore revision specialist. Surgery is booked 12th Sept.

Things have never improved since day 1 and after 3 previous surgeries I've never been able to walk or stand for more than a few unstable painful minutes. I'm really desperately hoping the revision will fix a lot of the problems but terrified I'll still be in the same situation after. Hopefully though it will be 4th time lucky and will finally get some of my life back and be in less pain with more stability.

@Ayse, I’ve just been reading your thread from the beginning. I can’t begin to imagine how frustrating this has been for you. I do hope the next surgery helps you, I’ll be checking for updates. Good luck

God, frustrated is an understatement as you can imagine. Thanks so much for your kind words @DogTiredKnees

Really hope it is 4th time lucky.
I think the RNOH at Stanmore is a good choice and the best chance of success.
Wishing you all the best and keep us posted.

@Ayse
I really hope so although I've kind of given up daring to hope now. I can't even imagine being able to actually walk now.
