THR Third Beagle Landing

Very kind of you.:curtsey:
Keep the faith beaglador!

I was the consummate whiner...especially first months.:boohoo:
Worried, anxious...but excited at the prospect of no more hip pain.
Been a year and a half now.:tada:
Helped unload thousands of pounds of donated for this week at food bank.
Alas, No rest for the weary.
Not today.:sigh:
Presently on route to SC worth truck and trailer AND some help...to move my mother across town to a new house.
Double hippy strong!:chuckmarch:

Why am I not surprised? @Mojo333 Caring people are always super busy. Well, here's hoping your Sunday at least is a peaceful one. And, when do you ever find time for all your posting?

I can sympathize with your constipation problems. As I'm sure you know, taking an iron supplement can really contribute to that problem. I think you have an excellent approach to keeping things moving! You should be okay.

Thanks @Jamie it seems there are a lot of us who have suffered through it. I'm hoping when I get my haemaglobin tested on Thursday the result will show I can at least cut down ( I'm very tempted to do so anyway) Otherwise at 2 1/2 weeks PO I'm really doing very well otherwise, and couldn't be happier. It's so so tempting, though, to overdo it when feeling so well. I look around the house at every crumb on the floor and watch the dust layers increase and it's so tempting. Actually I did do a short spell with the vacuum today and that was theraputic. Tomorrow a little dusting I think.

Hello @beaglador, I tried doubling the stool softeners this time around and it really helped. I stayed away from the stool softener with the laxative in it! Keep taking the medication that keeps you comfy for now, the stool softener will work. I also upped my water in-take this time as it helps both the constipation and my low blood pressure.

I  to triple joint replacement folk!!
Wishing you a comfortable evening.

You can start adding in those home chores gradually. You're doing it right by just attempting one small thing and then see how you do in the next 24 hours. Do one a day (short time, though!) for a week or so and you can very gradually start to increase that each week if there is no pain or swelling that results. It'll be a while before you're ready to run any marathons! :heehee:

Hello @Wayfarer and thanks for your friendly post. I see you've had your hip class already so your op must be soon but couldn't find the date. Whenever it is I wish you all the best on the day and for your recovery.

A LITTLE dusting...very little.
Don't want you overdoing this early in the game!
I know you are a seasoned vet of joint replacement, but this is a new one...and it is early days my friend.
Please do take it easy.
Hope you have a great week.:friends:

Hello @Wayfarer and thanks for your friendly post. I see you've had your hip class already so your op must be soon but couldn't find the date. Whenever it is I wish you all the best on the day and for your recovery.

Thanks Beag, mine is slated for January 7th (unless I chicken out--kidding, the time has come) and have a pre-op physical tomorrow, Monday...so it's all falling into place. Had dinner with seven of my tennis (haven't played in a year!) mates last night; they paid for my meal as a send off to replace my hip...I tried to pay (hey, where else can ya pay just about $20 for a Reuben sandwich and beers except the SF Bay Area!) but the guys would have none of it--I miss the camaraderie with them.

I haven't set up my own threads here, not sure that I need the attention but gleaning a heck of a lot here (thanks to all). Maybe after surgery I'll be so bored I will be making 100 posts a day! :loll:

Jan 7th, that's a good date, my 6 week post op OS appointment, a big milestone. Yours will come more quickly than you will believe, though your first tennis match will take a bit longer. @Wayfarer

Ha! I may be a seasoned vet of joint replacement @Mojo333 but I rejoined the ODIC on day 6 this time round. Few of us are immune it seems. After almost no sleep for 5 nights before and in the hospital, I came home and sleep for 31/2 hours followed by 10 hours that night. Next day I felt wonderful and thought I might be having one of those exceptional recoveries we all hear about. Spent too much time swaning around on 1 crutch and well, you know the rest.

Oh my stars...
But how do we know what is too much until we find the lines???
Now you know!

Do take it extra easy today.
Hope all eases soon...assume the position:ice:

Aww, I'm sorry you're hurting, that's too bad @beaglador
Hopefully your visit to the ODIC is only a drive-thru.
May you feel better soon.
Hope today is a good one!

Sorry, I mislead you @Layla and @Mojo333 that ODI episode happened on day 6, just after I got home from the hospital. I'm now approaching 3 weeks post op (tomorrow), and everything is so much better. Finally got outside for a 10 minute walk - I've been delayed due to the weather and another previously mentioned difficulty. So so good to get a bit of fresh air and be able to walk properly instead of walking around the furniture indoors.

Happy Three Week Anniversary a day early!
A flower for your anniversary
Happy to read you're doing better. Hope your Tuesday is going well.
@beaglador

Hope you had a great holiday, @beaglador :tree:
One month out was my prime post op blues period...
Cabin fever, exasperation, and tired of all the icing and intermittent sleep.:sigh:
Hope that you are doing well and bypassing this phase.
All temporary...hugs coming your way!:loveshwr:

Happy One Month Anniversary!
I hope you had a nice Christmas and are doing well.
Getting out for walks feels so fulfilling, hope the weather is still mild enough to do so.
Let us know how your post-op appt on the 7th goes.
A great weekend to you!
@beaglador
