Hi Kelly!

So nice to hear from you and know that you are home and recuperating. Sounds like there was some thoughtful work done by your surgeon, we look forward to hearing from you as your progress continues.

Take care,
Cardie

Happy Thanksgivig Kelly! Welcome home! I am so glad things are working out for you. I hope you continue on the right path, no reason to think otherwise. Congratulations!

I think I am going to be going thru a revision again and you can share your inspirational story with me. Hang in there, you are a brave woman!

Kelly...so great to hear you are back home and doing well. You have the right idea about taking things nice and easy. Do let us know how you are getting along.

Kelly, I just read your thread for the first time and I'm so proud of you for knowing your body and making them take more x-rays to find the problem. I too am a touch concerned that somethng is wrong with my LTHR because I have no range of motion when I swing my leg backwards,,,, it's like it hits a brick wall... Kinda scary and I've shed many tears about it.

Please keep us informed of your progress because it means so much to the current hippies and also the future hippies.

You are a brave woman and I'm so happy you are home recuperating... it looks like you have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Luv and huggs, Lisa

Welcome home Kelly! Rest, etc.... you know the routine.

Update when you feel up to it!

Had a really good day. Last night I was able to sleep comfortably in my bed... I got a nice memory foam wedge pillow and I propped a pillow on it, tucked a pillow beneath my knees and slept like a baby... woke up with no back pain (which I usually do when I am forced to sleep on my back).

Did light waddling around the house with my walker throughout the day, survived pretty much pain free with Norco every 4 hours. The only time I had any pain was as it got close to that 4 hour mark. I felt NO POPPING at all in the hip (thank goodness), and even sat at my dining room table for a bit working on a dollhouse I am building (my favorite hobby :) so it was a very good day, especially considering this was my first full day home from the hospital.

.... I am assuming this all means the hip was done right this time :)
.......... I am hoping tomorrow goes as well as today.

:yes 4: Yup! Everything should be pretty staright forward now Kelly! Keep up the good work! :yahoo:SO glad you got it resolved!

Yay Kelly!!!! So happy to hear you had a good day. You'll have more and more of them :yahoo: (and a few bad ones in between :tantrum2:)

Hiya Kelly

So thrilled you had a good nights sleep and a fun day and you will have many more of them.

I have NO DOUBT that you won't have any problems with your revised hip, to not have the popping must be so reassuring.

Now your rehab truly begins, and it will be filled with pain free happy days :) xxx

Excellent post, Kelly! it's wonderful to hear that you're steadily healing and that the days are getting better :)

Well done Kelly! So glad things are looking up for you. Keep up the good work - slow and steady. :thumb:

Still had a pretty good day yesterday.... hobbled around the house for exercise.... did some stretches my PT gave my last time and some leg exercises.

The home nurse came by and changed the dressing and managed to tear some of my skin off... sigh....

Today I am just a little sore, but I might have done a tad too much yesterday so I am taking it a bit easier today. My upper thigh is REALLY hard.... I am sure it is just swollen.... even though they didn't mess with my femur this time, but I am icing and taking 1 Norco tablet every 4 hours (or 2 tablets if I know I am going to exercise)... the pain is really not so bad this time... just soreness and stiffness, but so far so good :)

The stiffness is swelling Kelly. Be sure to keep icing! Glad you are doing well!

I am so happy everything is going so well for you Kelly. Keep icing and elevating as Jaycey says, and don't be afraid to take the meds when you need them. It won't be forever. Glad to hear you sounding so confident!

Hi Kelly

Interesting thread. Think I'd flip out if I needed a revision and you've been very brave. I'm new to this forum, the whole site's been a huge help. Don't really think I knew what to expect at all, didn't really want to research before hand just put it out of my mind. It seems many people are in a similar boat, and desparate to know if this or that is normal and it usually is. I think we all panic and think 'is something wrong', bound to worry. But you were right! I too have popping and clunking sensations at times, walking and exercising, if I lie on my back and move my leg out to the side when I bring it back I get a 'clunk' feeling and sound. But having read the article on noises on this site I think it's fine, obviously your thread has made be go 'oh, I wonder' but I'm sure mine's fine. I guess you just know yourself if it's not right?

Jo

Hi Jo,
I hate to say "it's fine" to you only because mine wasn't, but I don't really think you should worry. Mine was like a knuckle cracking... and it happened EVERY time I moved my leg, turned, everything. The popping was NOT painful, but putting pressure on the leg and walking was. As it turns out, my OS told me that the popping I was feeling was because the cup was turned at such a bad angle that ball and shaft were acting almost like a lever against the cup and causing the ball to actually pop slightly from the cup every time I moved. It is kinda gross to think about it now, knowing what was causing it, but I am glad I stuck to my guns and kept complaining until the problem was actually found. Just know your own body.... it will tell you (even with all the panic and worry you may be feeling) if something is wrong.
Good luck with your recovery.
Hugs,
Kelly

Hi Kelly

So good to hear you feeling better as you mentioned listening to our own bodies and being our own health advocate... Sad that we have to go through so much stress when we put so much faith in the professionals.

One wonders how all of that happened in the OR the first time, but so happy for you that it is fixed and you are on the road to recovery.

We can make it a fun journey if we treasure those wonderful milestones we achieve...

Go girl, lots of love xx

This was the key to your situation, Kelly. 'Normal' or clinical acceptable noises are one thing, having symptoms and pain on weight bearing is another thing entirely as is the 'every time' happening and needs to be checked out. Any report on here that involves pain on weight bearing raises a red flag to me.
