THR soccerdad's recovery thread<

Brilliant advice from those who know:ok:
That's what makes Bonesmart such an invaluable tool for recovery!
Was for me.:yes:
Hope you have a good day tomorrow!:SUNsmile:

Greetings gang. Coming up on 12 weeks post THR 1. Less than 2 weeks away from round #2 but with how great my new hip is feeling looking forward to it....well not the pain and recovery. Pain free on the new hip side and still working on getting it stronger. Im able to put on my own socks now....funny how something so simple can be such a huge milestone.

Question. I’m almost back to normal for bending past 90 degrees but I can’t cross my leg yet. Like putting my foot on the opposite knee to put on socks for example. Is this something that will slowly come back or is it something I need to have some PT on?

Hi :wave:
You're doing well! It's awesome that you're not dreading your upcoming surgery.
Only two weeks to go. Hopefully your next recovery is easier than the current one.

I think putting on socks will gradually get easier since you're only 12 weeks post op.
If you don't already have one, consider a sock aid from the Recovery Aids resource below -

I hope you have a great rest of the week!

You've got this!:ok:

Hi there,
Wishing you all the best tomorrow! We'll be thinking of you and will look forward to your first post.
You'll be joining the ranks of double hippy's and feeling great by the New Year!
@soccerdad

Bye bye hip pain!:yes!:
Hello recovery and getting your life back!:yes!::yes!:
Will be looking for you on the recovery side!:ok:

Thank you Layla.

ALL done with surgeries. Guess I’m on the second other side...

Surgery went very well today. No issues and just relaxing in my hospital bed. Actually nice and peaceful with no screaming kids or barking dogs or honeydue lists from my wi....oh better not finish that last one just in case. One night in the hospital and should be back home tomorrow. Thanks for all the support as usual.

Haha! Nope :nah: you better not finish that last one :no-fin:
You need her in your recovery. She will make your meals, fetch your ice, remind you to take your meds, fluff your pillows etc. She's an angel :angel: right? :yes:

Happy to hear surgery went well. It sounds like you're resting comfortably and your pain is well managed.
Hope they're keeping you on ice :ice: Wishing you comfort and a good night's sleep!
@soccerdad

Glad you are resting and pain well managed.
New double hippy in the house :yahoo:

Glad it went well. Hope you are still resting peacefully!

Positive thoughts. OMG this leg started off much better than the first one but seems to have taken a bad turn. Just keeping it elevated and on ice. My leg has really swollen up.

Just needed to post something and vent a little to those who know what this is like. OUCH!!!!!!!I know it will all be worth it. I’m just right in that 3-5 day range which is the roughest. Need to make it through the weekend and hopefully smooth sailing from there.

:oyvey:It is tough. Plenty of sympathy here @soccerdad
I told my OS he made my first post-op appointment for ten days
Because I might have quit hating him by then.:nah:
Guessing you are assuming the position:ice:

All temporary, as you know.
Hang in there friend...will be well worth it!:console2:

Yikes, hopefully the weekend passes quickly for you and you get some relief.

Yup we know that feeling but you also know it will get better! Hope that phase passes quickly for you. Ice ice ice!

Happy One Month Anniversary!
I hope you're doing well.
We'd love to get an update next time you stop by.
Want to wish you a happy holiday season as you continue healing and a great 2019!
@soccerdad
:merry christmas:
