Jaycee, Gilly and Nana Moon. Thank you for the good wishes. I'm on the other side in my hospital room and have zero pain as the spinal block is still working. I'm so thirsty that I'm drinking water like a fiend. The nurses are slowing me down so I don't have any nausea issues. The hip looks great. Just one giant bandaid over the incision.
This experience does seem different than the last. I remember more of the pre-op. Hubby and i arrived at the hospital at 11:30 and I spent close to two hours doing all the prep stuff: paperwork, IV port, urine sample, antiseptic wipes, and downing the "cocktail" of Celebrex, OxyContin, anti nausea etc. Then I was taken to surgery. I had a nice talk with the surgical nurses before the spinal was administered. And I remember them positioning me for surgery. I finally had to say "you know, I'm still awake". They said, "we know". That was about the last of it. I was kind of groggy in recovery and the nurses were concerned about my body temp so I was covered head to to in warm blankets. Around 4:00 I was taken to my room. Hubby has now left to pick up the kids from after school activities. I'm hoping to FaceTime them tonight. The nurses mentioned getting me out of bed later tonight and that I have PT at 9:00 tomorrow. So, so far so good.
