TKR Seven years out, Right TKR

Does stand to reason that your bruising may be abnormally more from blood thinner meds. Swelling also can be increased.

Do you feel searing or aching pain on the outside during walking or turning? If it is a sharp pain that could be indicative of connective tissue damage. If you have relatively full joint extention/contraction and medial/lateral rotation without great pain, more likely a minor sprain/strain.

Always good to treat with Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation when in doubt.

Sorry to hear of your injury:console2:

Thank you so much for putting my mind to ease. It’s always been my biggest fear to fall directly on it. I’ll continue to RICE & keep on eye on it. If it doesn’t resolve normally, I’ll go see my doc. Thanks again!

@julesm86 Sorry you had a fall! These implants are very tough. If you are walking and can bear weight I would just take it easy for awhile and let this settle. Ice and elevate to get the swelling down. What you have probably done is to traumatise soft tissue around the implant. Bruising will be worse if you are on blood thinners.
