"I went to PT on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on Saturdays I went to the gym, rode the bike, and did stretching in the sauna"

Sounds like exercising and therapy to me! That's more than I do. I don't think I could do that.

Please remember that I wanted to get back out on the baseball diamond and umpire, so I had some specific activity-related PT that I need to work on, too---and I was still limping the week that I umpired my first baseball game. I will admit that I, at times, was beat after teaching and PT---I told my PT one time that I thought that I may not be able to crawl into my truck after the session.

hi all.............i am now almost 16 weeks post op............i am doing well, but i can now understand how returning to work when i did probably delayed the healing process..........i do swim at least three times per week, a least one day a week on the recumbent bike, and then some walking............my knee now feels mostly stiff and sore.......no real pain to complain about...........just stiff, sore, and swollen on the outside of my knee.........i am wondering if more stretching would help since i really haven't been doing it since i went back to work..........the lack of pain is such a wonderful relief..............but now i want more........i want to feel normal again...........

Hi Kimbocats: You sound like you are doing well for 16 weeks. Remember, 6 months is the first real milestone and one year is even better. I am six weeks out from #2 TKR. I asked the chief PT, at the office, how long the stretching, knee slides etc. should be continued and he said "FOR LIFE". I thought "OH GREAT", but that got me back to work! I think if you want to feel really good, you need to keep up the basics; maybe not every day but just 10 minutes a day makes a difference for my year old knee. Sorry if I disappointed you. I wanted the work to end too, but we both want to feel as well as we can.

i am so not disappointed.............just glad to know what i can to in order to maximize the benefits of this surgery...........i think middle age it:) the "for life" in your face................so i am thinking back to more stretching....................thanks for the input........i really makes good sense and i think my knee is asking for this.............muchas gracias.........
