Hip Infection Second Hip Infection

You mean the bit I've pointed to with the red arrow? That's a disposable saw blade. They really didn't need to add that in but I expect an orderly who didn't know any better added it in and sent it to the Sterile Supply Unit to be sterilised and the staff there just accepted it as is!

Here's another one - there are tons on the market, all different!

Today I ventured outside. I sat outside in the Florida heat and had a good sweat going. While I need assistance getting out and setup it still allows a change of scenery and a slight feeling of independence. I would recommend to anyone to do slightly more than you think you can do to feel successful and always moving forward. Still wondering about the extra metal rectangle in my bag of parts.

Hi :wave:
Is that little Antnee in your pic?
I'm glad you got out to smell the roses. It's a necessary part of recovery. At least in my opinion.
It's a lovely distraction and makes you feel a part of the world again.
Wishing you many more pleasant outings :yes:
@Antnee334

And you didn't shoot your eye out!

Hope today is a Good Day.
Happy Father's Day, assuming you are a father, of course.

It's cute!
I hope you're doing well and wish you a great day! Daddy, or not.

I don't have any tattoos but if I were to get one maybe a matching pair,
one on each leg would be a good conversation starter

That is a good one!

Getting a tattoo would scare me, given the risk of infection, especially that close to my prosthetic.

July 4th Independence Day has a new meaning for me. My course of antibiotics ended and on the 5th my pick line came out. Glad that part is over. we had several mess ups with the weekly blood tests. One time they mislabeled the vials and that negated the results as my first initial was wrong and the doctor wouldn't accept the results. I was amazed how the different nurses had different methods for changing the dressing on the PICC line. I have had this done before and would always mask up. I had to request a mask because they didn't think it was necessary. Call me paranoid but after gloving up don't rub your nose and consider that to be sterile. My point is ask questions, double check everything and don't be afraid to speak up. I see the Ortho on the 10th and even though I was told my femur would take at least 12 weeks to heal I am hoping for a miracle.

At least your Doc did the right thing with the blood test. A few years ago I was in hospital and my Doc came in and told me that my blood test from that day showed my leukaemia was back and worse than ever and not survivable in the short term. I told him I hadn’t had a blood test that day...he told me I was wrong! Turns out the nurse had taken blood from a lady with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and put my name on the vial. Then they were upset when I put in an official complaint. If something doesn’t feel right...question it.

Yay for PICC out of there.
@Fractured and @Mireille are also on the wait.
I'm also praying for you...don't give up the faith...
Glad you are an active advocate for them to get it right!
Sorry you are still having to deal with this!
:fingersx:

I don't blame you for being overly cautious after all you've been through.
My heart goes out to ALL suffering something most of us have feared but pushed out of our mind.
I pray for strength and peace of mind for each of you, as you fight your way back to health.
I hope your weekend is peaceful.
@Antnee334

Thanks for all the prayers. I can't believe what Gidget went through. I'll keep you posted on the results of my X-ray on the tenth.

Yes, please keep us posted. We care.

Gidget is amazing and has been through so much.
She stays positive and is a great encourager and supporter of others on the forum.
Her story can serve to keep us in check when we're whining unnecessarily.
@Antnee334

Aww...shucks.

I don’t feel like I handle things well. I simply don’t have a choice. Curling up in the corner in a foetal position doesn’t help anyone.

I had followup visit yesterday. Doc liked the X-Ray and wants a CT Scan. Based on the findings, if positive, he will schedule a date. He thought about four of five weeks from now.:loll:

Hi,
What wonderful news! I'll bet you're excited to move forward. I'm happy for you.
Stay in touch and let us know what's happening. When's your CT scan?
Hope you have a peaceful evening!
