I must say I am so humbled by the amount of support here. I am somewhat ashamed of my whining but graciously accept your words of wisdom, experience and un abounding kindness. It just gives me so much hope.

RestAssured you are truly amazing. Can I come live with you....lol. I love dachshunds and had several while growing up.

You are right about "life is to short to be miserable for one more day". I have 2 beautiful children who are my life and I am so grateful that I was blessed to be their mom. My cutie patootie poochie is my best bud (will post pics later) and I was so fortunate to find this forum and all you amazing, courageous, beautiful people. No I am not medicated at the moment  just relieved and grateful and so glad to be here.......see what I did there......

The highs are high and the lows can really be low. I turn 60 August long weekend and I will have a new knee.

One day at a time, one foot in front of the other. :yahoo:

Thank you All :thankyou:

Well good for you! Two beautiful children! What could be better?! Yeah, my Doxies are pretty special, and umm someone else is in my life wait wait it is starting to come back to me.... oh it's my Husband! LOL:rotfl: He has been here through all of the surgeries, and although the road sometimes is rocky, as every marriage is, we learn to steer around the bumps or to fly over them!:)

I am so glad that you found us! We will always be here to lift your spirits, listen when you need to vent, or just talk went you need a sympathetic ear. Families don't understand, because they haven't gone through the mill, but we do! Take care of yourself and the pooch! Keep writing! We really do care!

Hi Glad2bhear,

Sonja is a great inspiration; she's been there for so many of us. Now we too are here for you. In my job too I have been harassed and bullied. But being back and being able to walk circles (okay, circle) around them is kind of fun. I too work in a system which puts letters in people's files after a given number of absences. It's a stupid, unfeeling protocol, but it truly is not personal. The pain will be bad post-op, but it will also be managed. Just a caution as you read the recovery tales and problems with getting pain meds: I think there's a big difference in that between Canada and the US. I know we're in different provinces, but hopefully you won't have the same unfortunate problems many of our peers had; I didn't at all.

No worries about pity parties: we all have them! I wish you all the best.

I have had 4 previous surgeries on my left knee. Not sure if I want to do this and go through the pain. Date for surgery will be set in may for June surgery.

I have lead a very sedentary life since being diagnosed as disabled due to back problems 20 years ago so I would like to be ready for this if I go through with it.

Welcome, Glad2bhear.

I am sure you will have a good team and as they know your past history they will be careful everything is as should be. Have a good read through the stuff the mods gave to you and if you still have any questions what so ever post and ask. Wishing you the very best of luck. This time you are not alone and have the whole Bonesmart family here.

I have lead a sedentary life for nearly 40 years. I was diagnosed with MS and sever spinal problems. Now I was to start 'LIVING" :spin: One thing this surgery has done is free me of the terrible knee pain so that is one off the list. I really want to move on and enjoy life and that can be sitting on a balcony or garden just watching the wildlife.

Glad2bhear we are all different but i have a feeling you will also move forward and enjoy your life more after your op. Do you read? I am thinking of writing a book sounds crazy but who knows I have to have goals.

Have a great weekend and lots of hugs  :puppysmooze:

Hi all

I was reading some info on allergic reactions/sensitivities to some of the implant materials and I am so glad I did. This never even occurred to me and is something I will have to address this week at my PAC appointment.

I can't say it enough it is so awesome that I found Bonesmart and all you amazing people. You really do feel like family. And at times better because you get it.

When I see my Gp and Os again I will be suggesting they give other up and coming TKR and hip patients the name of this forum.

Thanks Jebsw you are right about not taking it personal but I am a really sensitive person and it really caught me off guard. I need to get a tougher shell or a lot smarter :thud:

Thanks Chinook and I am so happy your knee turned out well.

:thankyou: All

Hi Glad,

Yes I have metal allergies so the doctor put in the Smith & Nephew Gensis 2. The revision was also an HK Smith & Nephew. We don't want allergies along with other stuff. :)

Oh, I'm overly sensitive on some things too. But when I saw colleagues getting letters, and how it was all so petty and upsetting to everyone, it made me realize it really wasn't about me. This time. Those tough shells, unfortunately, come at a price.

Gosh, I think we are all a little sensitive when it comes to our job! But Judy is right, they don't randomly pick you out to put letters in your file or they would be in big trouble! Don't let them get to you! Just remember, YOU ARE worth it! :happydance:

Hi all

Finally got over my pneumonia and got my surgery date. I am set for June 6th. The reality is setting in but thanks to all the information provided here and the wonderful people supporting me I don't feel as scared.

It does appear there are some differences here in Canada but not many. I found the information about infection very interesting and worth serious consideration.

Apparently I will have to have my other knee done as well so will probably look at doing that early next year.

Well, that's excellent! I'm so glad we were able to sooth your nerves...
