@teakea66 Sure do hope hip op trumps TKR! Just want to get it over with & start the process back. I remember immediately feeling no joint pain after TKR. Actually, my left hip doesn't hurt that much when I walk -- but turning over in bed, leaning forward, sidling over on that side, exiting/entering my car -- all hurt a lot. That leg is also quite a bit soirter, so it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out. Stay tuned...

@jebrig3164 Thanks. Actually, you're 2 days behind me, almost to the hour. Check-in for me is 7:30 am. Prayers for you, too, Jeff. Wish it were over. And @grandma chris, do you guys also have to use an antibacterial soap the night before? Much luck to us all!!

Almost there @shrinkette ! Take care my friend. We will all be rooting for you and anxiously waiting for an update from the other side!

ellen, just wanted to tell you that I 'put in a few words' for you at one of the holy sites here today.
so hoping to hear good news as soon as you're able.

@dickinson You are just too good! You really did? A friend was in Jerusalem less than a month ago & I asked him to go to the Western Wall & slip a prayer for me into a crack. He said he did. I think I'm well covered. Can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Take good care of yourself.

Ellen

@Jaycey Thanks for the good wishes! Been building up to this for almost 4 months & I'm finally almost there. Hope to be posting as soon as I'm not too drugged... Maybe just a little drugged -- it would make for funnier posts.
Scared/nervous/hopeful...

@shrinkette, Ellen yes we do have to use disinfectant soap and scrub totally as well as shampoo the day before and then again the day of (minus the shampoo). We also have to sleep in clean sheets the night before and after the shower on the day of we must don freshly laundered clothing. I have obtained a soaped scrub brush that surgeons use to disinfect so I will use that for my last shower. A nurse I swim with also suggested that for a week or so before I use my Spectro gel to scrub my thigh every day for a week. I've been doing it.

Best wishes to you @grandma chris... Thinking of you for your surgery....wishing you a great recovery. Chrissie x

@shrinkette Ellen, have been thinking of you the past few days. I will be sending good thoughts and prayers your way tomorrow. Looking forward to that first post on the other side.

Ellen, I am also going to have you in my thoughts tonight and tomorrow. I wish you all the very best and hope that your surgeon has magic in his hands tomorrow. I'm so looking forward to hearing from you tomorrow! I hope my dream comes true for both of us. xoxoxo

Hi, you wonderful BS family! This'll probably be my last post from home on the eve of surgery. I'm snuggled in bed after doing the special antibacterial shower thing & drying my hair. My OS' nurse said I didn't have to repeat it in am. However, you @grandma chris, mentioned that your orders included sleeping in fresh sheets! I mentioned that to a friend who helpfully reminded me that I have a cat who spends a lot of time curled up with me in bed. I thought -- hm... That special soap thing (which had to stay on for 5 minutes!) & fresh nightie are kind of counter-productive if I'm lying all over cat hairs!! Long story short -- hubby put on brand-new, never used sheets. Conscience clear.

Tired... Had small sobby (yes, as in SOBS) meltdown today, much related to hubby's continued pain issue & Tramadol side effects issue. Nothing we can do or HE can do. It's just made this thing more complicated & stressful. I'm sure we'll get through it. Our daughter will write down anything OS says, & others will be there.

My hip is definitely screaming for release. Was more painful tonight in certain ways... Maybe I need it to be. Thank you, Left Hip; you held me up for lots of years. Still having trouble picturing how this is all going to work, meaning how new hip will work with other one, with me being so out of alignment (I think), & yada yada yada... Said it all before. Time to put "it" to bed & focus on new beginnings. Most of all, deep blubbery heartfelt thanks to all of you have wished me well continuously & enthusiastically. I feel like I know you!! Hugs & kisses to you all -- and special ones to those immediately following me who I won't be able to contact. See ya...!

@grandma chris.....Have everything ready for your big day that's coming? I get excited for all you guys on this site. I hope when my time comes I feel the same way. We will be fine. I think we all worry to much don't you think? I hope you start a recovery thread to. I would love to read how you are doing my friend. Hope your keeping warm up there in Canada. I'm in Pennsylvania Pa but its feels like Alaska..SOOO cold here. Pretty soon you can relax sip some hot chocolate and say I DID IT!!!!! Be well...

@shrinkette...OH I am so excited for you.....Get all those blubbery tears out now....I so know how you are feeling. You are all scrubbed up...clean fresh.....and snuggled up....Just think tomorrow you will be a new woman>>> Im so happy for you. You post when you can...Take care of you. I'm sure your hubby will be there so relax.......hug your pillow....sleep well:sleep:....All will be well Ellen..You have all of us praying for you. XoXO to you!!!!!!!!!:friends:

Hi, @shrinkette ... I logged on just to post a farewell post on THIS thread. I'm glad you are snug in bed in your brand-new, squeaky-clean, feline-free sheets. So sorry to hear about the added stress from your husband's pain. But like you said, you've just got to put "it" all to rest right now. Strap yourself in for the ride to the other side.
We will all be so happy to hear when you have arrived. You are one well-prepared lady, and by that, I don't mean just the "stuff" that you got like the sock thing. You've got a lot of tools in your toolbox. You're a real inspiration. Take care. This time tomorrow ... you'll be a post-opper.

@shrinkette Best wishes! You will love your new hip. At nine months It is the part of me that works the best!

Praying for you friend that you have a successful surgery and recovery in Jesus name !!!

Love and prayers to you! I am a tkr member but read your lovely and personable posts all the time!

I'm on my way. See you on the other side.
