TKR ROM issues

OMG that sounds scary to me but I’m glad you are able to do it! It’s so encouraging to get back to doing what you love.

Shore Scuba diving is still a challenge. Getting through the surf and very rough sand bottom with all the cold water gear requires a hand hold, especially at night!

Eight months out now and enjoying the new life my knees allow, which is lots of skiing - downhill, cross country, and backcountry. My legs are strong and range of motion is very very slowly improving.

Update- now over a year since surgery on my second knee. My knees are fully functional for hiking, swimming, biking, skiing, etc. My legs are strong though they could be stronger (hard at 83 years old) and range of motion is ok but not as good as original equipment. I am quite active and so very happy that is possible. An example of my activity is riding a 13 mile single track bike trail, plus the return of 7 miles of gravel roads.

That is amazing! I would say you are much more than "quite active"!!
I think that better describes my 10,000+ steps/day plus some childcare whereas your bike rides sound positively athletic to me - and I am 14 years your junior......

:happydance:Fabulous update, thank you!!!!!

A belated HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!
You still amaze me. Happy to read you're doing so well and thankful you stopped back to share an update.
Stay safe and be well, skiforever!
@skiforever

Years have passed since my second (left) knee replacement and I am happy to report that my flexion has improved. This past fall I had another health issue and had to bend my knee more to get up from seats. That improved my flexion! It is not true that there is a limited "window" to regain movement. What is very nice is that now there is no pain associated with working on flexion.

So glad to read that you are doing well, @skiforever!

Thank you for sharing your experience with gaining flexion in your right knee at almost 3 years post-op! I know your story will help others here who are worried about the "window of opportunity" threat from their therapists.
You are living proof that it's a myth.

Thanks for stopping by with an update!

It is not true that there is a limited "window" to regain movement.
Thankfully your progress is proof.
Too bad all of those struggling can't read your words. Thanks for taking the time to share, it may reignite hope in some of those thinking they've reached a point where it's as good as it's going to get.

A belated Happy Five Year Anniversary, Righty!
Stop by on Lefty's two year anniversary in June if you think of it and let us know how your doing.
Until then...all the best!

My knees are working great! I Scuba dive, river and lake SUP, mountain bike ride, and do all sorts of skiing - downhill powder (even some bumps), backcountry (wilderness), cross country classic and skate technique. I sometimes do workouts with indoor rowing, hill sprints (running), stationary bike intervals, deadlifts, squats, lunges, etc. Everything works! At 84 I am really enjoying an active life!

That's great to hear.
Thanks for reporting back.

I forgot to mention I did a half marathon (13 miles) in under 5 hours. That may sound slow, but the run is above 7000 feet and goes over 4 mountain peaks for about 3300 feet of climbing and descending. The footing was uneven on trails and dirt roads, including some scrambling with exposure. I trained by hiking and occasionally running 22 trails in my area, most 6-8 miles, but some longer and a few shorter.

My goodness! What a sterling report on how your knees are performing. This should give our more active members hope for a great life after surgery. Thank you so much for sharing this. If you had any photos to post, that would be even better!

Wow, this is phenomenal! You put a lot of us to shame, lol.
I had forgotten about your level of activity and am amazed all over again. No grass growing under your feet!
Stay safe and enjoy, skiforever!
