THR Please tell me this gets better

@Chigirl I had both hips replaced in December of 2011 and in July of 2012 I traveled across country by plane, drove all over New England, enjoyed a school reunion, partied with my brother and had a wonderful time with ZERO hip problems.

So it rather depends on YOUR healing and time frame for your travels. If your plans are 6+ months after your surgery and you are doing well then you should be good to go :) For long car trips stop fairly frequently and get out to stretch your legs (and get other refreshment as needed).

Any travel we do during the next year will be by automobile.
The good news is that with car travel, if your hip starts to talk, you can always lie down in the back seat! Just pack some ice so you have it if needed.

I'm planning on an easy-paced (for us) trip from US to Costa Rica in early December.
Given what I know about the pace of the planned trip, the location & the person running it I am pretty
sure I could do it right now, but I hope / expect the next 3 months will add a good margin
of safety.

The one thing I would be concerned about today are airports. There is usually a LOT of walking,
standing, lifting in airports and I think I would get to my limits right quick. I have logged 15000+
step days in airports where all I remember is sitting. By Dec hope this will no longer be a concern for me.
People with a lot more problems than I have travel in airports just fine.
