Fractured Neck of Femur/Pinning Pain in neck of hip

Yah I'm kind of leaning towards not doing it it's 500 a go which isn't too bad but it's the fact that there's not much info on it

Hello from yet another lockdown in ireland, so recently ive been gettin pains around my upper leg, knee hard to tell is it muscle or worse, its been a year and almost 2 months since the accident. I can do pritty much everthing now but with discomfort. My question to you knowledgeable people is when i walk or am working the pain is usually less than when im athome doing nothing does this sound normal? Standing still or walking slow around shops give me pain and stiffness but fast walking or working makes it better.

@SeanMurphy This sounds more muscular to me. Your muscles warm up when you are more active. Are you doing any new activity? Started new exercises? Does heat or ice ease this?

I am going to try the heat pack tonight to see if it helps, i have been doin aa good bit of exercise. I rang my doctor today and surprisingly i am going for a xray next week so that will tell the tale either way. Thoughts of going back to square one are killing me ha

Hello just a update, i went for a xray that showed a small bit of shadowing on the very top of the bone they said could be avn, so i went for a ct this week and should have results soon. Surpriseing it all feels fine pain very low most of the time, i would have expected it to be getting worse not better

Hi Sean,

How are you getting on now? I hope all is ok.

I was 31 when I fractured my hip and had it pinned too so am following your progress with interest. I’m only 4 weeks post-op but am concerned for you that you might have avn. I really hope it isn’t that.

Take care

Best Wishes

Stephen :-)
