Once home, sleep in same bed with SO?

Ahhhh.... We don't have a recliner and considered borrowing one...
That is what I did, but I just couldn't sleep in it. I did sleep in the spare bedroom, DH is a light sleeper and I was a NO sleeper for a few weeks. I watched TV most of the night.

I slept in the living room for the first 8 weeks... rotated between a very comfortable futon and my oversized chair. And by sleep, I mean toss and turn and watch TV! Easy to get to kitchen and spare bathroom. Let my BF be in the bedroom. Would call on the cell phone if I needed him during the night. Everyone is different.

Every couple works this out on their own. I didn't even consider my options with my spouse! I only knew I was going to hole up in the master bedroom with my tv and computer and we'd work out whatever worked best. He ended up in the guest bedroom for a week (or two - how soon we forget!) while I tossed and turned and watched tv most every night.

We have a king sized bed and it was my whole world! It was great to just scoot the CPM machine over to the side rather than have to lift it on and off the bed. "HIS" half of the bed held a basket with snacks, books, magazines, my computer and iPad, lotion, a notebook to write down my medication times, and all my medications. There was no room for him at all!

The guest room was right next door and he'd refill my ice machine (always announcing, "The Ice Man Cometh!") when he got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. He also slept with his cell phone in case he couldn't hear me call for him.

Curiously, I found it easier to use the family bath down the hall rather than the master bath because the toilet was next to a counter I could use to get to a standing position easier. So, be flexible and do whatever works!

The best of luck to you. I'll be looking for updates once you are out of the hospital.

This is my second night home and all is well. I've had sleep issues for years so he's used to me being restless (and ignoring it!) - all I've had to do is touch his shoulder if I need help now.

Jacki :-)
