Revised PKR to TKR On the other side - AGAIN!

Next task to find an ergonomic folding walking stick
Or....a gel or foam cane handle cover? Make sure the cane is the proper height also as it can put extra pressure on the wrist, shoulder and hand if it's not the correct height.
There’s a clunking in the new knee buy they tell me it’s nothing to worry about,
Many ask about those noises that come from their new joint. Noises such as clicking, popping or clunking in a knee or hip when walking. These noises can be annoying, but normally not a problem. The soft tissues around your new implant are settling in with each other and adjust themselves to work smoothly together with the hard metal, ceramic, or plastic parts of your prosthesis.
You're doing well, LE and it will get even better, as you know. :thumb:

@Layla and @Legseleven I'm rusty and unsure where to put this comment/question.

Wonder if this can happen in the first surgical knee after the second one is operated on? It makes sense intuitively that there would be more muscle, ligament and other soft tissue adjustments. I'll go over to my own thread now!

I think @FleuveStone any surgery causes changes and the joint adapts, which is understandable. My physio said it was gristle moving about. All actions have consequences and I expect we will get used to the changes in time, until we no longer notice them.

Yes, because your gait is changing once again. You're likely shifting weight differently which can affect how your older replacement moves under the new circumstances as your body is still adjusting. I wouldn't worry unless there is pain, swelling, locking or a feeling of instability. Give it time. :thumb:

4 months. Week 18.
The current state of the world has given me an unusually unsettled night, so I thought I’d do a quick update on my good news on here before napping again.
I now use a stick when outside, not a crutch. It’s a soft handled folding one and suits my hand. I bought it last week and it’s made a huge difference. Sometimes I carry it but too much without support can become too much. It’s a fine balance.
I can now have a bath whenever I want and no longer use the little step which hopefully can be rehomed in due course. I ran it through the dishwasher and it’s like new.
On Friday I went back on one Celecoxib a day taken after breakfast and that seems to have freed the knee a bit by reducing inflammation. The back seems a little better too. I’ll do ten days then stop again to see what it’s like.
I’m also gradually increasing my walking so one of the daily walks is a bit further each day, and the others continue to be just my little circular walks.
Onwards….

I used a foldable stick for months outside. It gave me confidence as I feared falls on Autumn leaves and icy streets.
It sounds like you are doing well. Great news.

I hear you...Isn't that the truth! Disturbing times indeed.

Lots of good progress in your update. Slowly but surely you're getting there and you're only four months in.
Oh, the Places You'll Go! :wink: :thumb:

That is big improvement, plus wonderful being able to soak in a nice warm tub! Kicking that step to the curb is also a big plus! Way to go!

Tonight I sorted out all the walking aids I’ve accumulated. Some I’ve had since last year. So I will be returning the frame from this year, I haven’t used it since July, one set of crutches from last year and a previous set of crutches, both these sets are very down at heel, they’ve done a lot of miles. Hopefully they’ll be recycled.
Still using the raised toilet seats which are borrowed from friends and keeping one set of crutches just in case, along with my new walking stick. Another walking stick will be returned to the lender, and one more will go to the Charity shop as it’s a lovely one, but not a good match for me.
Little steps in every sense of the word.

It is hard to find a cane handle that fits your hand. Its not a one size fits all type of deal - at least for me it isn't. I'm glad you've found one that works. I had that issue and went a wee bit overboard with it when I found something that worked. I have one in the car, in the master bathroom, kitchen and the other side of the house! I figure they are there IF I need them, hoping I never do. Crutches' and walker are in the garage very easy to get to.

It seems as though you are doing very well.

Great idea @eaglemom I think I need another for the car, so I’m not ever stuck and I’ve had a crutch in the car for yonks.
Forgot the tip is closed today, luckily someone reminded me before I went, and the big collection box for old medical aids is down there. The hospital told me on discharge to ring for collection however it seems the hospital never registered the gear to me, so the equipment firm wouldn’t collect.
The bath is definitely helping the knee extension to improve. :loveshwr:
Yay, onwards.

Scrub a dub dub :bath: Glad the soaks make you feel better!

Me -> :scratch: an American, wondering what "yonks" means, lol. I had to look it up.
You know what they say, you learn something new every day. Thanks for today's lesson, LE. :wink:

For our member's enjoyment, we have a thread on English / British word meanings, we need to add yonks.
Thread found -> HERE

Have a great weekend!
@Legseleven

Bit ‘meh’ today. The clocks go back and the first winter storm is here. Not my fav time of year. It’s a grey dark day and it’s so wet now it’s unlikely I’ll get my third walk in.
Managed some good cardio this morning on a brisker walk, and made some meals for the freezer.
Unfortunately my back is flaring up again, so I’m disappointed and a bit sore and of course it affects the leg. Today it feels like I’m permanently on the recovery roller coaster, which in a way I am with consecutive ops. This too WILL pass.
As I was often told growing up “It’ll be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, it’s not the end.”
Onwards. Tomorrow is another (stormy) day. :heehee:
Ps @Layla I put yonks in specially as a joke, glad you liked it. Could also be translated as ages.

At first glance I thought yonks was a typo, lol. While it was new for me, I did a search and naturally its been used here many times. I've either missed it, or forgot. :shrug:

We change the clocks on November 1st, a week after you. Yuk...hard to get used to the dark so early, plus the flip of the calendar brings Gray November, as I call it because the leaves are usually off the trees, no flowers on front porches / steps and the sky seems perpetually GRAY!

I'm sorry your back is flaring again. I hope it eases up soon. Thankfully you got a good walk in.
Knowing you, I'm certain you have indoor plans to save the day from being a downer. Some type of tidy, or cooking / baking, or crafty activity? Don't know if you have the Hallmark channel in the UK, but Christmas movies have begun. We know what that means...Christmas is not too far away. :banana-santa:
Wishing you a peaceful rest of the day!
@Legseleven

Unfortunately my back is flaring up again,
I tend to have flare-ups when the weather is wet and stormy. I think it has to do with the change in barometric pressure. Hoping the sun will come out and you will feel better soon!
