TKR New Year, New Knee - Jan. 3, 2017<

[Bonesmart.org] New Year, New Knee - Jan. 3, 2017<

My 1 lb 13 oz baby!

What a beautiful new baby! I agree that your scar looks really good for only 1 month.

@sistersinhim I think the beauty of my scar is the "glue"!! Also, unless it is still to come, the glue makes for no itching. It hasn't itched one bit.

Your scar does look great! My first incision area never itched. The second one only itched for a few days because of the allergic reaction I had to the steristrips, and benedryl for a couple days took care of that.

I had no itching (that I remember) with either surgery and I had staples. Both times I had a silverlon bandage over the incision for two weeks, not sure if that helped the itching or not. Surgery Oct. 29/Nov. 27 and nothing on my scar until February.

Your scar does look GREAT! :dancy:

I, too, had glue with dissolvable sutures and no itching. Mine was nice and tight, but like every scar I have over a 'joint', mine has stretched a bit at the top :boohoo:

Still, both your knee of metal, and your scar are model-rific! :walking:

Wow, your scar looks awesome! I had bad itching with both my incisions but never thought to take Benadryl. Occasionally I still have bouts of itching and will try to remember the benny if needed!

I had glue and internal stitches. No itching at all. You are doing great!!! Hardly any scar at all. I also took my true shower today!!! Felt amazing!!! Now I need a nice hot bath!!! That is going to have to wait!!!!

5 Week Knee-ver-sary!!
A couple of observations...
- I no longer have my alarms set to make sure I'm on top of my medication. I know the earliest they would be taken but I can generally go another hour or two before I take them. 50 mg Tramadol and 1,000 mg Tylenol.
- I was peddling the recumbent bike today, back and forth for flexing, but I knew I was getting close to going all the way around during the backwards motion- it happened! Of course my movements are very slow and calculated. :)
- I still use the walker when I have to get up during the middle of the night (and I'd better pay attention because last night I think I was still sleeping and nearly tipped over sideways)
- I still use my ice machine all night
- I still have swelling and heat but the raging red angry knee look after a PT exercise is no longer making an appearance
- I was able to sit outside today and enjoy some February sunshine (65 degrees in Missouri!!). My leg was up while I worked on the extension for a bit
- Yesterday's measurements: 103 flex and 5 extension

You're sounding really good! I've enjoyed this warm spell, too.

It was warm here too, but raining. You continue to manage your recovery very well. Kudos! :thumb:

Happy 5 week Knee-ver-sary right back atcha! Sounds like you are doing great. I am envious of your warm sunny day. I think we are going to have temps in the 50s here on Friday. I am hoping to get outside to take a short walk. Have a wonderful painless day!

Wonderful report! I'm still dubious about P. Phil's 6 more weeks of winter!

Glad things are coming along well!!

Happy happy knee-ver-sary!! Sounds like you are doing fantastic!
We had 55 degree weather yesterday which was awesome but today huge snowstorm bringing 14+ inches of snow!

We hit 73 yesterday with cold front dropping it to 22 tonight. My new knee is fussing about it, too! One day no more weather knees!

My knee was feeling the noreaster that came in today, snowing now, working at home
