Lou, So happy to hear about all the milestones you are passing in your swift recovery. I'm still not quite as smooth as you, and I wonder how much it might have to do with not yet beginning outpatient PT - where I understand they do start to work you much harder. Wishing you continued ease of movement.

Hi Anita. Thanks very much for your kind words. I was just watching the videos on your thread and I think you are doing fantastically well! Remember, I actually have an 9 day head start on you and I believe you you align our recovery timelines, I would wager we are on very similar trajectories.

Outpatient PT will definitely be beneficial. When are you cleared to start?

Lou, Thanks for reminding me of your head start and that I need to be patient with my progress. I think that because prior to surgery my pain was more episodic and that I could still feel quite normal that I am really impatient to walk smoothly again. I am seeing my rehab doc this week, and I have my 6 week follow up with the OS next week, do I hope to begin "real"PT very soon.

It's great to hear how well you're doing, Lou!!! Keep it up!

Here is a video of me getting in and out of the shower (don't worry, I have my clothes on!). I was able to get into the shower like this about 3 weeks after my surgery. Getting out was a bit trickier. First week or so, I would lean onto the toilet to step out. 2-3 weeks in, I would grab (very lightly) the shower rod to help step out. Now, a hand on the wall, is all I need for support. We also put a non-slip mat into the tub!

Geat news Lou It's fantastic when you see and feel the difference keep up the good work and take care.

Good videos.....it's good to watch others it helps with confidence! Thanks for sharing!,

Thanks everyone! I am glad to be able to share this with you. Anita, my kids love to help. When my son saw my scar for the first time, he said, "Whoa! That's going to need a BIG band-aid!"

A quick update on my progress. I am almost completely through with in-patient PT and have an aggressive home plan that I have about 3-4 weeks left. Today was my first real day back to work and I started it with an almost 300 mile round trip drive. I paced myself and felt great. Before my THR, drives like that would take a day or two to recover!

Well, Lou...that's just a fabulous report!!! You are doing really, really well. I'm so glad to hear it.

Great news Lou. Sounds like your progress is coming along nicely. What a difference between pre and post op.

Well done Lou! So glad you are getting back your life!

Hi Lou, just wanted to say thx for the shower video. I saw it right before my op, and it gave me a lot of confidence for getting in and out of the shower right away!

An observation on the video - which is great, btw - I noticed the side of the bath is just below your knee level which obviously makes it that much easier for you. For folk who are shorter, you need to have a step to help you.
