MUA My TKR and subsequent manipulation journey

I need a little advice. I think I know what it's going to be but I'll ask anyway. Last Monday, I did my walk. I've been doing 3 miles with no issues so that day I decided to increase it another half mile. The next day I started feeling some sharp but mild pains around my kneecap. I feel it most when doing steps but also the knee feels a bit more tender for lack of a better word while walking. I also think the clicking has increased but there is no pain associated with that. I know everyone is different but am I just simply trying to do too much for being less then three months out from TKR? Okay, this is an edit to this post. Since I posted I've been thinking. It seems like it's been forever since surgery and while I'm sort of doing things normalish the plain fact is that I don't feel completely normal. Everything I do is still overshadowed by "the knee". I may have been in denial as to where I am really at in the recovery process. As I said it's been less then three months. I probably have been getting overconfident

Yes! If you have pain and/or stiffness the day after new or extra activity, your knee is telling you that you have done too much and that you need to back off the walking a bit and increase the icing.

Keep in mind that an MUA "resets" your recovery date. So, rather than being 3 months out from surgery, you are really more like 6-7 weeks post-op (and, remember, this is a year-long recovery)! You need to recalibrate your expectations accordingly.

I also think the clicking has increased but there is no pain associated with that.
As long as there is no pain when you feel the clicking, don't be concerned -- it's normal. The noise/sensation can come and go. My knee continues to click and I'm a year out. It has lessened considerably over time -- or maybe it's just become white noise.

This recovery is a rollercoaster with lots of ups and downs. It takes a lot of patience. But you will improve with time.

Thanks, I hadn't even considered the MUA and I'd been neglecting the icing. I should have considered all that. Sometimes you just need someone to slap you upside of the head to bring you back to reality. I'm glad I found this site. I'm thankful to have the support of people that have been through it already.

The best way I found in keeping my knee happy in its recovery was cause and effect. What caused the effect I'm feeling now? Once finding out what it was then I'd back off that particular thing for a week or more, then try it again. If I had no ill effect, then it was good to go!
