Paula is right. I used PT to accomplish MY goals. If your mom wants to work on some areas of concern, this is the time, but if she would prefer to work on her own, that should be fine, too. I limited my PT to twice a week, and sometimes once seemed like enough.

If the PTs don't ask your mom her goals and how she wants to use therapy, she needs to take the bull by the horns. Your mom should be prepared to set the ground rules. Paula's right, your mom's ROM is good, she could opt to hold off on PT until later in recovery when she can work on gait, balance, and at 3-4 months strengthening the muscles around the knee. Jean had a great idea in spreading PT out with once a week sessions. Insurance usually covers a certain number of sessions and by only doing 1-2 a week it could carry her farther into recovery and give more varied benefits. That would also give her knee plenty of time to recovery after each session.
