@GeoffM Did you ever get the PRP? After 2 weeks of having my cortisone injection for trochanteric syndrome, the pain is back darn it! So I’m back on the web researching (I found my cure for recurrent cdiff this way). I’m reading from juried scientific journals, and although PRP is not covered by insurance, and there are not enough studies, it looks like an alternative to surgery. So I’m interested if anyone has done this for the trochanteric pain and/or gluteus medius tears and what the outcome is. (My cure for cdiff: FMT, at the time was not fully accepted but worked, so I’m reluctantly interested in educating myself on PRP). Trying soooo hard to be positive spending most of my 50’s in pain, would really like to be able to exercise before 60! Both parents have had 5 way bypass, and my clock is ticking! Gotta get out there and exercise!! Trying not to feel sorry for myself that I STILL CANNOT WALK A 1/2 MILE WITHOUT PAIN after over 4 months having THR! Ok, I shouted it.... sorry. But hey, my bones don’t hurt anymore. Anyway, ANY comments, experiences, information welcome! Now on to this day!!

Maryluibel I saw your post and wondered if you ever had the PRP injections? I hurt myself on a treadmill a year ago and just recently was finally diagnosed with a small gluteus medius tear. After a year of dealing unsuccessfully with the doctors and 2 cortisone injections that did nothing, the pain is unbearable and gone down my leg into my knee. I’m almost 63 and had my first PRP injection this past week and am hoping it will help heal the tear because the surgeon said he wouldn’t operate because on a scale of 1 to 10, it’s a 3 (whatever that means). Plus he is two hours away. Unfortunately no one in my tristate area does arthroscopic hip surgery. Can you or anyone please tell me your experience with PRP? Thank you!
