Has anyone ever had a knee replacement after being diagnosed with Parkinson's?
I had my right one done last spring intending to have the left one done after the first however was just diagnosed w the Parkinson's... neurologist says to go for it.. just anxious with the diagnosis...

Hi @barzeen - I'm sorry you have Parkinson's. 2019 must have been a tough year for you.

I don't think that having Parkinson's will affect the success of a knee replacement, but you may find that it take a little longer to recover a normal gait.

Just make sure that your PT therapist knows you have Parkinson's and doesn't try to rush your rehab. As long as you take the time you need, things should go well.

You will let us know when you have a surgery date, won't you?

I think we have had someone here with Parkinson's who did fine--and so long as you make sure all your doctors are in the loop I think it should be fine.

If anything, it will probably be in your favour as that condition generally encourages a rather laid-back attitude to things like exercising! Don't fret, I'm sure you'll do just fine.
