you, the Supremo set the protocol but i'm afraid i can only bend my right knee sufficiently. perhaps it would be better if i bowed...hehe!

Oh Pirate, no bowing here. That's reserved for "Commanders," lol! I'll accept just a slight curtsey provided it's sincere. I'll check with Princess Pheebs on proper protocol because she also happens to be Empress of the Universe.

I love Bruno Mars! Such a great entertainer - he has filled the void since my beloved Prince and Michael are no longer with us. If we could all bend (or straighten) a little better we could dance to his music. Glad you all were able to enjoy some cocktails this evening on my behalf. Resting with my foot on the ottoman as we speak.

Just a little clarification from the radio gal :happydance:on the Bruno thing...he's actually from Hawaii, born and raised, but his father is half Puerto Rican, his mother, Filipino. But he's 100% amazing. Take everything that was right about Michael Jackson and mix that with your favorite song of all time and you've got Bruno Mars! Oh, and the guy can dance. Google!

Interesting about the coke @liam2015. I had a serious Diet Coke addiction prior to surgery - mostly to the caffeine -- and I gave it up afterwards. I was sticking with water in the first couple of weeks after surgery as I wanted to sleep and nap as much as possible. I still like caffeine but have switched to tea instead. That was a big improvement for me to give that up. I've had a couple of diet cokes since then but don't have the big desire for it like I used to.

thank you @RadioGal ~ i didn't know that. i agree he is 100% amazing. i just adore him.:loveshwr:

@kmak81230 for many, many years i've tried to cut out foods that are unhealthy or have too much sugar but sometimes you just have to give in to your craving. we only had it in the house because of the barbecue. it's such a refreshing drink. my late mother-in-law, a nurse, used to say it was good for settling your tummy. whether that's true or not, i don't know, but it does settle my tummy. i haven't given up ginger ale although seldom have that in the house. i'm with you on the tea ~ i've grown accustomed to chai tea and ginger tea in the last few years. i also started drinking coffee several years ago when i discovered it eliminated my headaches/migraines.

My knee replacement surgery led me to give up my lifelong coffee habit. For a while. The nausea I developed from painkillers and iron pills made some of my favorite foods unpalatable: peanut butter and jelly, strombolis, and coffee. Just the smell made me sick. But I gradually got my taste for these back and just this week started grinding my own beans again. In the meantime, though, I developed a taste for tea.

Note on diet colas: Years ago I was a heavy drinker of those. I ended up with an oxalate kidney stone which my doctor said was a result of drinking all that diet cola. Stopped cold. Nothing hurts like a kidney stone.

@kmak81230 just joining you guys now! I certainly would have joined the pity party with you although with some trepidation as I have my 3 month appointment with the OS next week. I don't know what he will have to say as I am still sitting at 95 flexion and 0-1 extension. I was at PT today and although my PT is not one to inflict pain, he also was saying work harder at flexion using my own body weight. Well I do my bending exercises daily sometimes multiple times a day. I don't really have any swelling left yet but I still can't bend it!
I think I will just forget everything and enjoy my 3 family long weekend at the cottage with a large glass of wine, my ADL's and to heck with all things knee related ( other than caution on the sand)

@kmak81230, I brought you to my PT session today and got what I hope will be some interesting and helpful information with respect to your extension. More later when I can have access to my laptop. Right now, the house cleaners are here and I can't get upstairs, lol.

I just googled Bruno Mars. Man, can he move!

@kmak81230, my extension was last to come in and I found the easiest way for me to improve it was to hold on to my walker and take as long of a stride as I could walking around in the house. It worked well for me and felt really good! But, don't try it without holding on to the walker!

Thanks all - I knew I could count on my "oh so smart friends!"

Okay Kmak81230, you've got mail!

Gary, my PT guy, really enjoyed meeting with you today. He's confident you'll get up to par in the arbitrary 3 month deadline with the right treatment, but if not, there are other options. :console2:

Thanks @Pheebs52 - I am so glad to have met with Gary. I'll bet he is just like Chris - who left me. I am looking forward to beginning work with Taren next week - she's super smart and also follows the BS way. She is also driven to see her clients succeed. You're the best!

Funny talk about names! And peg legged! My name is Peg! @liam2015 my real given name is Margaret too although I go by Pegi. I do the same thing in the Doc's office when they call it out. It takes me a minute to realize - Oh that's me lol!!

Pegi

@kmak81230 - Don't let the Doc get you down. You are functioning well and will get there in your own time on your own terms!

Thanks @Canada35. My spirits are good if my extension isn't. It's still early in the journey & I'd probably get bored if I didn't have something to work on.

Hi again.
Was looking for your thread and then found it. The six weeks out part...any thoughts of changing the title?
From the Austrian lady I spoke to yesterday: she was asking me if I was happy with my OS because she wasn't with hers bc he never gave her enough time with all her questions. She picked a good surgeon but she said he had poor "bedside manners."
Sheesh! Can't med schools select for that.? or least train doctors more than the odd hour now allotted for that.

Exactly @VW54 - I have no doubt my surgeon is an excellent "mechanic" - but he always seems in a hurry and I have to have follow up questions to get past his short, to the point, answers. He is friendly and, as I mentioned on someone else's thread, he gave me his card at my consult appt and was quick and gracious to answer my questions via email after hours before I decided to do the surgery. He is a little rigid about things (use the CPM machine for two weeks 6-8 hours a day, walker for 2 weeks, antibiotics before seeing dentist for the rest of your life, the knee should be hurting you to see improvement . . . ). I expect he will do my other knee so want to maintain a good relationship. When all this mess is behind me I will probably talk with him more about the BS way so that maybe he will move away from the "no pain, no gain" model. I "interviewed" a few surgeons - one of them never looked me in the eye during the whole consult appt, they were adamant that I send my x-rays, but when I got there he was unable to pull them up as they were in another building - I had driven 70 miles to this doc - No Thanks!

PS: thanks for the tip on changing my thread title - I can never find it myself :heehee:
