Thanks for the great words of encouragement and the laughs. Especially recycled :heehee:

Got the call and I am the first surgery so have to be there at 6AM. That is good news because I really hate the waiting.

Oh my, scaredinCA, I just noticed your avatar...now that is very a propos :loll: If anyone did a cartoon sketch of me before my surgery that would be it!

Keep up the sense of humour, you will do just fine :martini:

That's great, it will be easier on you psychologically. I was early also, day went by so quickly (for me anyway  ) I was back in my room and ordering a hot turkey sandwich and a ginger ale by 4:00pm. And let me tell you that was a good turkey sandwich....

My surgery is booked for 3 hours. Apparently not the run of the mill TKR so I should be all rested up for the day and have a perky afternoon on the mind altering drugs :umm: :rotfl:

Gosh, I don't get over here on the pre op side often enough! I wish I could give all you June Sunbeams a hug and make it all okay! I had my btkr one year ago yesterday, and I just commented on my thread that it was the best thing I'd done in 35 years! (A nod to the fact that my youngest child is 35+) The anticipation is absolutely the worst part! Unfortunately, you just have to get there yourself, no one is going to be able to talk you out of nerves, but they will be gone when you wake up after surgery. And then a sense of humor will help get you through the early recovery! Thinking back, I think I had an advantage. In the two weeks before my surgery, I had two breast biopsies, the second, surgical excisional biopsy just four days before my knee surgery, with the results not expected until noon on the Monday of my scheduled 12:30 knee surgery. If it came back as cancer, the knee surgery would be cancelled while I waited in pre-op. It came back benign, but it certainly was a distraction before the knee surgery, and afterwards, no matter what, I could think to myself, at least it's not cancer! It gave me good perspective I think, so I was in a great mood by the time I got to surgery! Not that I would wish that kind of pre-op stress on anyone, but I can see where it gave me an advantage in facing the knee surgery. Regardless, this surgery is so worth it! I went HIKING in the canyons in Utah in April! I feel like I've been let out of a prison of pain and life is good! Keep your eye on the goal, 2014 will be a great year for you all!

I just said the same thing on another post. Roller Coaster, all the feelings, frustrated with the "you'll be fine" comments...Hope it all went well today!
